What’s the role?

As a Commercial Product Manager Lead, you'll play a critical role in helping Westpac bring complex commodities derivatives products and enhancements to market safely, efficiently and with strong governance at every stage. You'll own the commercial governance and coordination of the Commodities Derivatives Release Train, bringing together information from multiple products, delivery squads and stakeholders to create a clear, integrated view of priorities, risks, controls and release readiness.

You'll work across Product, Trading, Treasury, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Operations and Technology, ensuring decision-makers have the information they need to make informed and balanced commercial decisions. Acting as a trusted advisor and challenge partner, you'll identify gaps, manage dependencies, coordinate governance obligations and help teams navigate complex approval pathways.

This role also offers a unique opportunity to modernise how governance is delivered. You'll lead initiatives to simplify processes, reduce manual effort and introduce more digital, rules-based and AI-enabled ways of working, helping improve transparency, consistency and speed while maintaining robust risk and control standards. This is a permanent role based in Sydney with flexible working arrangements available.

What do I need?

You'll be a commercially minded leader who can bring structure to complexity, influence senior stakeholders and balance business growth with strong governance and risk outcomes. You’ll have: 

• Strong experience in product management, governance, risk, controls, transformation or change leadership, with the ability to bring together information from multiple stakeholders and create a clear, integrated view of priorities, risks, dependencies and delivery outcomes.
• Experience working within Financial Markets, institutional banking, trading, commodities, treasury or another complex and highly regulated environment will be highly regarded, although we're also open to candidates from broader product, risk, governance or transformation backgrounds who can bring fresh perspectives and strong commercial acumen.
• Proven ability to build credibility and influence across senior stakeholders, including Product, Trading, Treasury, Risk, Compliance, Operations and Technology teams, while providing constructive challenge and navigating complex decisions with confidence and professionalism.
• A solid understanding of governance frameworks, control environments, risk management and operational readiness, with the judgement to identify gaps, escalate issues appropriately and support balanced commercial decision-making in a regulated environment.
• Curiosity for emerging technology, automation and AI, combined with the ability to work effectively alongside technology, data and engineering teams to design solutions that improve governance and decision-making. You don't need to be a technical specialist, but you'll be comfortable bridging the gap between business requirements and technology outcomes.
