Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work across functions with stakeholders in IT, Engineering and Operations, and Analytics to become the subject matter expert and go-to resource for driving business success through advanced descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
• Understand business needs, and ideate, develop, demonstrate, and deploy end to end analytics solutions to those problems, with a focus on identifying and/or developing the best machine learning, optimization, forecasting, and statistical methods.
• He/she must have strong working knowledge of SQL and Python, as well as a grasp of key mathematical and statistical concepts used in analytics, especially hypothesis testing.
• He/she must have strong working knowledge of traditional supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods, and deep learning. Knowledge of NLP, LLM, machine vision, and other analytics methods is useful but not required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering, or equivalent. 
• Strong conceptual and functional understanding of statistics, SQL, and Python, in theory and practice.
• Strong working knowledge of traditional and deep learning methods, in theory and practice.

PREFERRED:

• Familiarity or experience with other languages used in analytics, such as Java, Scala, Rust, R, or HTML/CSS/JS, is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity or experience with other analytics fields such as NLP, LLM, machine vision, graph analysis, or video analytics is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity or experience with major version control systems such as git is preferred.
• Familiarity or experience with Agile project management is preferred.
• Familiarity or experience with major cloud providers and their services, including AWS, GCP, or Azure is preferred.

SKILLS:

• Strong written and verbal communication in English, and the ability to work in cross-cultural teams, are critical to success.
• Strong passion to learn: the desire and capability to learn will be as significant to long-term success at WD as pre-existing knowledge for this position, and perhaps more.
• Strong analytical thinking, with strong attention to detail and the willingness and patience to pursue data consistency and quality.
