About this role:

  • Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director
  • This Technology Director will serve as the Chief Architect for Technology for Chief Operating Office (TCOO) globally. This leader will partner with all the CIOs in driving the technology strategy and roadmap for TCOO.  This role reports into to the Head of Technology for Chief Operating Office (TCOO) in India & Philippines and to Engineering and Cloud Migration Executive.
  • The Technology Director will be responsible for building target state architectures with business and technology leaders for TCOO. The leader will work with technology partners to build or bring in solutions that help modernize existing and new applications using cloud, containers, API’s, digital etc.  This leader will be a technology evangelist who will bring in technology solutions to accelerate transformation and modernization while ensuring maximum ROI.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
  • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
  • Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third party providers
  • Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
  • Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy


Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of Management experience

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in Enterprise, Solution and Systems Architecture
  • Very strong communicator, with excellent planning skills. Proven ability to influence senior leaders across a matrixed organization to create engagement and drive results
  • Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and tell compelling stories through PowerPoint presentation, strategy papers, and other written formats.
  • Exceptional people management skills, with a proven ability to build, lead, and motive high-performing teams.
  • Self-driven, and proactive leader, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while strategically managing responsibilities to ensure no impact to business
  • Driving organizational maturity through transformation.

Job Expectations:

  • Develop and communicate the long-term technology vision and strategy, aligning it with the company's overall business goals across all CIOs in TCOO.
  • Establish and maintain architectural standards, principles, and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across TCOO.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of architects, engineers, and other technical professionals.
  • Work closely with CIOs in TCOO, business stakeholders, and development teams to ensure smooth collaboration and effective delivery of technology solutions.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with applications, platforms and infrastructure, ensuring business continuity and data security.
  • Stay ahead of industry best practices and emerging technologies and identify opportunities to leverage innovation to drive business value.
  • Create Business Case and Business value generation
  • Ensuring NFRs are introduced as part of the product backlog
  • Create the architecture for GenAI and AI COO
  • Neighborhood design and infra requirements for all applications in TCOO
  • PCI DSS compliance for TCOO applications
  • Accountable for Arch Assurance processes within TCOO.
  • Sets up review boards as necessary to validate archspec and other design artefacts
  • Ensures solution architectures which are secure, highly available, resilient, and scalable
  • Partner with other LOB Chief Architects as necessary to achieve business outcomes
  • Hold accountability across the various Architecture Op Model value streams for the LOB
  • Contribute to community forums and communities of practice within the company

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience leading large, global architecture teams.  Experience coaching and mentoring managers, and individual contributors. Experience managing complex, diverse technology portfolios.
  • Ability to effectively drive and lead change in an organization with Wells Fargo’s size, scale, and complexity.
  • Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing, and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of technology efforts across several major lines of business and effectively partner/influence at the senior executive level.
  • Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives.
  • Ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business, enterprise, and technology strategies.
  • Highly effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills with a collaborative and results oriented leadership style.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult with key business partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood along with the ability to effectively partner and influence at the senior executive level.
  • Experience building products or leading engineering functions operating at a global scale, and in a hybrid deployment model of cloud-native (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS) and on-premises.
  • Must have solid understanding of current and future trends and practices in Technology.
  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership.
