About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer
In this role, you will:
- Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
- Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
- Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
- Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 7+ years of technology development and strategy experience in data engineering, software development or related domains.
- Define and execute the strategic vision for the payments data technology portfolio, including data engineering, storage, processing and analytics platforms
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Spring Boot and SQL
- Technology development and strategy experience in Software engineering and development.
- Must have Experience in deploying application in Cloud
- Must have Experience in deploying applications using Event driven architecture using Kafka Event Streaming
- Expertise in data technologies, including cloud platforms (Open Shift, Azure, GCP), distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark) and data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query)
- Proven track record of leading large scale complex projects and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Rich experience working in Agile environment
- Hands on experience adopting and implementing engineering practices such as TDD, BDD, Developer lead functional automation, Automated deployment
- Experience in recommending changes to application architecture with knowledge in infrastructure aspects and good ability to articulate to stakeholders.

- Define and execute the strategic vision for the payments data technology portfolio, including data engineering, storage, processing and analytics platforms.
- Provide technical expertise in building scalable, high performance and cost-efficient data solutions
- Stay ahead of industry trends and evaluate emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions.
- Data Architecture and Engineering
- Design and oversee the implementation of robust data architectures, ensuring high availability, security and scalability
- Lead the development and optimization of ETL pipelines, data warehouses, and real-time streaming solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data models, governance practices and integration strategies
- Team Collaboration and Mentorship
- Act as a mentor to engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices
- Partner with product managers, analysts, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and innovation,
- Operational Excellence
- Drive engineering excellence, including CI/CD practices, automation, and monitoring data platforms
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and ensure platform reliability
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
