About this role:

The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations business lines. In addition, EFT provides unique technology solutions and innovation for Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed.

Within EFT we are seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Data Protection Engineering team.  This engineer will be responsible for Data Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and related technologies.  This role is a key liaison with architecture, development, database, operations, risk & compliance, and Line of Business (LOB) stakeholder teams, as well as external service providers.  Experience with all aspects of Data Loss Prevention including architecture, data sourcing and analysis, implementation of DLP inspection, and strategic planning are foundational to the role.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the entire enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organization's tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies; recommend innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 7+ years of experience implementing, configuring and managing all aspects of Data Loss Prevention applications at an enterprise level, including network, data at rest, and endpoint inspection
  • 7+ years of experience building relationships with LOB stakeholders, business, audit, risk & control, and technology leadership to design and deliver effective information security solutions in a large enterprise (150K+ employees)
  • 5+ years of experience defining data sources, writing SQL queries, and analyzing data for use in Data Protection and DLP initiatives
  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and mentor less experienced engineers

  • Ability to influence, partner and negotiate with senior business leaders to drive strategic outcomes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to articulate technical solutions to technical, business, and risk/audit audiences.
  • Experience interfacing with cross-functional technical teams within and/or outside of the organization
  • Curiosity to learn new technologies, an ability to self-start and the discipline to prioritize while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively and think independently in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile methodology and Kanban workflow, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time
  • Industry certifications, such as CISSP, GIAC, Cloud Security Alliance, Azure, AWS or GCP cloud certifications

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
