About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer Covers jobs which design and perform engineering solutions on computer hardware, software, and networking tools to meet the organization's needs to support applications and underlying infrastructure migrations to target new data centers.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Key Skills:

  • Large-scale IT Infrastructure Design and Implementation.
  • Migration and Virtualization- Experience in large scale data center migrations, Virtualization technologies (Broadcom/VMware).
  • Application and Data Migration – Strong knowledge with Application migration strategies (architecture), Data migration (database, storage (NAS)), cutover planning and execution.
  • Infrastructure and Database- Strong knowledge in server build process (Windows, Linux), and Database migrations (SQL, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Network and Security – Strong knowledge in Network design and implementation (LAN, WAN), Security protocols and compliance (Firewalls, access control and encryption).
  • Technical Project Management and Collaboration- Agile, Waterfall, Strong Communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Other Skills – Knowledge in Dell PowerFlex, Broadcom/VMWare HCX, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Grafana, Jira, and Cloud platforms (Azure, GCP).


Job Expectations:

  • Lead complex initiatives to develop infrastructure to provide migration solutions for business applications.
  • Participate in various projects intended to continually improve or upgrade the infrastructure to remove technical debts.
  • Review and analyze high impact outages to ensure the proper processes and procedures are in place to avoid problems in the future.
  • Design, build, deploy and maintain infrastructure solutions through collaborative efforts with the team and third-party vendors.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document programs using Agile development practices.
  • Make decisions in technical designs, implementation plans and identify project risks and resource requirements.
  • Direct the daily risk and control flow of operations, focusing on policies, procedures, and work standards to ensure success.
  • Recommend courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and achieve results.
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.
  • Interact with customer and vendor.
