Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an experienced Android Mobile Developer to join our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

● A major role in designing and building our Android apps from ground up – this means you’ll be essential in laying down the groundwork, infrastructure and product discussion from start to finish.

● Technical design, implementation, debugging and testing of features for Android applications across smartphones and tablets.

● Partner with UI teams to help define and implement user interface improvements.

● Partner with other engineering teams to work on server side integration.

● Provide QA with test or production builds.

● Strong knowledge on owning the delivery of Android APK’s to the Google Play Store per project requirements.

● Identify differences and new features across Android versions and associate the benefits or risks associated with the same.

REQUIREMENTS: (MUST HAVE)

3-5 years of development experience, with 3+ yrs. of Android development.

Must have deployed Android Apps to Google Play store and must be able to provide references of currently Live applications.

● Strong knowledge in Android SDK, Java, Eclipse, IntelliJ development environments and how to deal with different Android versions and different screen sizes.

● Strong knowledge with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.

● Strong knowledge in integrating payment systems into the mobile app such as PayPal, Authorize.net, etc.
 

● Strong knowledge in integrating various social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

● Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
 

● Strong knowledge in using SQLite or any other suitable DB.
 

● Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning.

● Familiar with working with Cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Heroku, etc.
 

● Ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as “touch”.
 

● Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers.
 

● Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks.
 

● Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
 

● Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications.
 

● Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines.

● Knowledge in working with cross platform development tools such as PhoneGap, Xamarin studio will be an added advantage.
 

● Experience working in Agile scrum environment will be a plus.
 

● Experience working with source code repository such as Git, etc.

DESIRED SKILLS:

Bachelors in Computer Science

Strong communication skills with a passion to learn.

Qualifications

Basic

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
• At least 4 years of experience in Android development .
