*This role supports US-based remote work, or Palo Alto, CA based hybrid in-office.

We’re looking for a Devops Engineer to join our Infrastructure team, where you will build and maintain the infrastructure and services that support Wealthfront’s products and platforms. We are a team of “Generalists with Expertise” who believe strongly in automation through software and standardization to bring strategic expertise for designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving our infrastructure.

We operate in both physical data centers and AWS cloud environments and leverage open source software such as MariaDB, NGINX, Jenkins, Chef, Kibana, and Grafana to deliver automated infrastructure to our clients and every member of the Engineering team.

As a member of the Infrastructure team, you will:

  • Maintain our core infrastructure by automating software deployment, infrastructure configuration, and database cluster management and tuning
  • Ensure that mission critical services operate reliably by triaging and fixing operational issues as an on-call engineer, participating in post-mortems and implementing improvements to prevent future issues
  • Design, implement, and deploy internal software tools and services to accelerate productivity of the wider Engineering team and enable direct ownership of operations
  • Help manage our server hardware in our physical data centers and occasionally travel to our Bay Area or New Jersey data centers for onsite projects
  • Be involved in key decisions regarding the evolution of our infrastructure
  • Mentor junior members of the team

This role could be a fit if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience with modern Linux systems and at least 2+ years of experience running and troubleshooting applications and services in production
  • Familiarity with at least one automation technology such as Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
  • Software development experience in Java, Python, Go, Ruby, or similar languages
  • Excellent communications skills and a desire to both learn from and educate your peers
  • Designed complex deployment orchestration workflows for production services and infrastructure
  • A BS or MS in Engineering or Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Once you join, Wealthfront will:

  • Pair you with a 1:1 mentor to guide you through our onboarding program
  • Encourage you to lead impactful projects which match your professional goals
  • Support your professional development by providing feedback during weekly 1:1s and during our bi-annual reviews
  • Give you autonomy so you can be a happy and successful member of our team
Estimated annual salary range: $155,000 - $185,500 USD plus equity and a discretionary bonus.
Benefits include medical, vision, dental, 401K plan, generous time off, parental leave, wellness reimbursements, professional development, employee investing discount, and more!

About Wealthfront

Wealthfront started with the ambition to transform the investment advisory business, with the goal to unlock access to high quality investment advice for millions who were underserved by the traditional institutions. We built one of the first automated investment products that allows you to invest in a personalized portfolio of thousands of companies in seconds for a remarkably low fee. We then expanded. We now work with partner banks to offer exceptional banking features through a Wealthfront Brokerage Cash Account, which makes it remarkably easy for people to automate their finances end-to-end and eliminated the hassle of money management, all of which resulted in attracting more than $70 billion of our client’s hard earned money, pioneering the robo-advisor category and transforming the broader industry. And yet, we have a long way to go to achieve our mission to build a financial system that favors people, not institutions.

Wealthfront’s vision is to make it delightfully easy to build long-term wealth on your own terms. This vision is more relevant than ever because millions more people are getting into the market early and investing their hard earned savings in a handful of stocks. While this is a great way to start, it is inconsistent with building long-term wealth. We want to empower young investors to expand their horizon, and easily explore and execute on a wider range of investing strategies, make informed investment decisions that are consistent with their values and beliefs while also making it effortless to grow and compound their savings exponentially in a way that’s transformational to their lives and their long-term future.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We prioritize job seekers as our customers, unlike bigger job sites, by charging a small fee to provide them with curated access to the best companies and up-to-date jobs. This focus allows us to deliver a more personalized and effective job search experience.
  • Salaries for the engineering jobs on our site range from $100K-$200K. On average, senior engineer positions on our EchoJobs are about $160K.
  • The EchoJobs positions have been sourced and vetted from the top companies to work for in the US as a software engineer, including LinkedIn and other reputable job sites. We also have syndicated jobs from companies that have just raised funding, as well as those that have great unique products and culture. From all of these sources, our founder, Morgan, has also resourced the company's authenticity in terms of their website, public appearance, and more.
  • Yes, our users asked us for just this, so now our search filters allow you to search for your top jobs via location, as well as by onsite, remote, or both. Approximately 30% of our jobs are remote, so you’ve got the best options for you!
  • We have not yet implemented this option, but are considering doing so in the future. For the moment, you would need to cancel your subscription, and resubscribe when you wanted to come back.
  • We add new jobs to EchoJobs every day! We scan our sources for the newest jobs, verify them, and post them to EchoJobs within minutes. We add about 2,000-3,000 new jobs for you each day!
  • From starting your job search to getting hired, the entire job search process can take us software engineers anywhere between 3-6 months. However, at EchoJobs, we’re striving to shorten this duration by finding the best, newest jobs for you, so you can do less job searching, and more applying.
  • We’d recommend checking EchoJobs daily, as we add new jobs to the site each day. Additionally, if you got a chance to read our previous email on “what makes EchoJobs different from any other job search tools,” we also recommended that you set a job alert based on your job filters, so if you get emails on those new jobs, you could be checking more than once per day.
  • If you decide to continue with us after the 1-month trial, we definitely recommend this, as we all know it usually takes 3-6 months to find a quality job as a software engineer these days. So to best support you, we just adjusted our membership options at EchoJobs to monthly, 3 months, or 12 months (this option is more for passive job seekers looking a little bit for the future if they want to come back to work or make a job switch potentially. This lets you see what’s out there in case an even better fit job becomes available.)
  • EchoJobs is truly the only job site of its kind. We want to be THE spot for you to find the best job for you, and haven’t encountered any other company doing this. Other job sites are in niches besides software engineering or focus on a small portion of engineering jobs (like a specific coding language). In the words of Morgan, our founder, “I think what makes EchoJobs different is the amount of jobs, frequency that we add new jobs (we add 2,000-3,000 new jobs daily!), and the powerful search engines to find exactly the job you want more easily and efficiently. We can provide you with the most jobs that are vetted by us, we’ll continually find more new jobs for you, and we make it easier for you to apply and get hired.
