Software Engineer II, Global Supplier Tech

Candidates for this position are preferred to be based in Bangalore, India and will be expected to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements.

We are looking for a passionate Backend Software Engineer to join the Fulfilment Optimisation team. This team builds the platforms that determine how customer orders are fulfilled, optimizing for Wayfair profitability and customer delight. A big part of our work revolves around enhancing and scaling customer-facing platforms that provide Fulfilment information on our websites, starting at the top of the customer funnel on the search pages all the way through orders being delivered. Throughout this customer journey, we are responsible for maintaining an accurate representation of our dynamic supply chain, determining how different products will fit into boxes, predicting how these boxes will flow through warehouses and trucks, and ultimately surfacing the information our customers need to inform their decision and the details our suppliers and carriers require to successfully execute on the promises made to our customers. We do all of this in milliseconds, thousands of times per second.

1. Partner with your business stakeholders to provide them with transparency, data, and resources to make informed decisions
2. Be a technical leader within and across the teams you work with.
3. Drive high impact architectural decisions and hands-on development, including inception, design, execution, and delivery following good design and coding practices.
4. Obsessively focus on production readiness for the team including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation and proactive troubleshooting.
5. Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet team and project goals.
6. Create proposals and action plans to garner support across the organisation.
7. Influence and contribute to the team’s strategy and roadmap.
8. Tenacity for learning - curious, and constantly pushing the boundary of what is possible.

What you bring to the table:

1. Responsible for designing and being hands-on in building web-based, event driven, cloud enabled applications that are reliable, scalable and easy to maintain;
2. Ensure the quality of engineering direction across multiple teams 
3. Contribute to architectural and code review discussions that impact our engineering ecosystem
4. Define standards to raise the bar of the teams you'll be working with.
5. Mentor less experienced software engineers
6. Collaborate with leads and engineers across multiple teams to solve a wide variety of business and technical problems.
7. Contribute to the growth and development of the Wayfair engineering scene within Bengaluru and beyond. 

We Are a Match Because You Have:

1. 2+ Experience coding JavaScript, CSS, and HTML from scratch as well as a familiarity with modern client-side frameworks (React, Ember, Angular, Vue, Styled Components, SASS, etc) 
2. A understanding of JavaScript state management libraries, such as Redux, MobX, or Apollo 
3. Proficient in testing and debugging techniques to identify and fix issues in their code 
4. Desired, but not required, you know responsive design principles to allow web pages to adapt to different screen sizes and devices, making them accessible to a wider audience, cross-browser compatibility is a plus 
5. A passion for UI, UX, and Design Systems and working with designers to create engaging and intuitive experiences across devices 
6. Experience in working with product managers and designers to define, break down, and collaborate on feature work 
7. A genuine believer in constructive and respectful code reviews, retros, and collaborative problem-solving as the bedrock of a healthy team 
8. Great communication skills and the ability to support technical decision making with the team
