We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our team and play a vital role in the development and maintenance of our web applications. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of front-end technologies and a passion for building innovative and user-friendly web applications.
What you'll be doing:
- Collaborating with designers, product managers, and other engineers to bring web features from concept to production
- Developing and maintaining high-quality, scalable, and responsive front-end code
- Implementing and optimizing for front-end performance, including load times, responsiveness, and accessibility
- Working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile development environment
- Staying up-to-date with the latest web development trends and technologies
- Work across functional teams to ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end systems
What we are looking for:
- 5 years as a Web Engineer, with 2 years in a Senior capacity.
- You have extensive experience with React and Node.js on large scale applications and know how to navigate a complex code base
- You have experience working with SSR and how to leverage modern SSR concepts to enhance performance and optimize user experience
- You have experience with frontend performance optimization (e.g., lazy loading, code splitting, caching).
- You are familiar with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and Travis.
- You have strong skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- You are passionate about writing clean, efficient code and also recognize the importance of collaboration and enjoy working with great teams to deliver the best results.
Nice to have:
- Experience migrating legacy code bases to modern tech stacks
- Experience working with Remix

Wattpad is conducting all interviews in a distributed manner using applicable third party software where needed and using visual interface tools such as Google Hangouts and Zoom.
