Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. About the team:
The team develops and enhances warehouse management systems for Grocery Distribution Centers in the US. Collaborating with product management, project teams, and business partners, they deliver scalable, high-quality technical solutions. Emphasizing iterative development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, the team ensures system reliability and efficiency. Members contribute to design, coding, testing, and deployment while supporting operational needs. The group values expertise in platform design, API development, and generative artificial intelligence, fostering a disciplined environment that drives innovation and timely delivery aligned with business objectives.
What you'll do:

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
• Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using modern programming languages.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and products.

What you'll bring:

• Proven experience in software engineering with strong proficiency in cloud-native architecture, including microservices and containerization.
• Expertise in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and monitoring.
• Skilled in DevOps engineering practices to enhance infrastructure, tooling, and developer productivity.
• Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision-making to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions to promote engineering excellence and sustainability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
