SENIOR, SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Position Summary...

Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

About Team:

Marketplace Engineering team is at the forefront of building core platforms and services to enable Walmart to deliver vast selection at competitive prices and with best in class post-order experience by enabling third-party sellers to list, sell and manage their products to our customers on walmart.com. We do this by managing the entire seller lifecycle, monitoring customer experience, and delivering high-value insights to our sellers to help them plan their assortment, price, inventory. The team also actively collaborates with partner platform teams to ensure we continue to deliver the best experience to our sellers and our customers. 

This role will be focused on the Marketplace

What you'll do:

• Good knowledge and experience in Java EE / Spring based application development.

• Good knowledge and hands on experience in designing and implementing applications based on Micro services architecture using Spring Boot.

• Proficient understanding of web mark-up, including HTML5, CSS3.

• Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS

• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks

• Strong knowledge of object oriented JavaScript, ES6 and Node JS

• Proficient understanding of Angular 6+/React, similar other frameworks is critical

• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them

• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.

• Experience with web servers, service oriented architectures, web services (both REST and SOAP), Micro services architecture, security best practices and database technologies.

• Experience in developing multi-tier enterprise product.

• In-depth understanding of the full-stack of a cloud based distributed platform

• Passionate about writing good quality code and currently hands-on coding work.

• Knowledge of one or more of programming languages JAVA/J2EE platform.

• Experience in developing CI/CD pipeline, Test automation.

• Must have good knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases.

• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude.

• Good Exposure to Agile development practices.

• Take ownership of entire features and/or products and work within the engineering team to build them across the entire technology stack.

• Necessary skills to ship a front-end feature and then scale a back-end service.

What you'll bring:

4-8 years of experience as a Backend Developer with a strong proficiency in React, Java and Spring Boot.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture and its implementation.

• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with Kafka for event-driven architecture and data streaming.

• Proficiency in working with NoSQL databases for data storage.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize and troubleshoot performance issues.

• Experience with version control systems (e. g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

• Knowledge of software development best practices and design patterns.

• A proactive and self-motivated attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices for automation and deployment
