Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

Sam’s club is a membership-based retail warehouse club owned and operated by Walmart.  With more than 600 physical clubs across different geographic region in US, Sam’s Club chain serves more than 50 million US members and is rated among the top retailers in US.  

What you'll do:

This position is for the Digital Ecommerce Services team of Sam’s Club . You will be working closely to enhance and innovate Sams Club Digital Web and Mobile experience. In  Bangalore office , you will work with small teams of talented engineers to build robust, distributed, and scalable applications and Co-ordinate effectively  with cross geography counter parts. You will be given the freedom to try new things and prove the value of your own ideas and innovations and own them all the way to production. Foster a motivating culture of openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure business needs are being met using software engineering best practices. Participate in internal Hackathons and innovation challenges! 

Job Responsibilities 

• Play a critical role in shaping the product & technical vision for the team while working closely with product, business, and engineering leadership across the company on a regular basis.
• Engage with Product Management and multiple engineering teams to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products. 
• Track and maintain feature parity across omni channels like - web, mweb, iOS and Android applications.
• Lead the design , execution and of Web, Android and iOS applications in a modular fashion with reusable components adhering to high standards of Engineering Excellence metrics.
• Always consider edge cases and best practices while designing any feature -
  • Security, Performance SLAs, Memory consumption , Battery and  Cloud Cost Optimization etc.
• Nurture the culture of innovation, experimentation and fail fast. 
• Hire, mentor , lead , motivate and manage performance of world class group of engineers.  

Your Qualifications 

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.  
• 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in leading end-to-end engineering teams and building scalable customer facing systems.
• 6 to 8  years of - native mobile App –iOS and Android using Swift and Kotlin
• In-depth knowledge of web and mobile development technologies, frameworks, and best practices.
• Basic understanding of web architecture and framework.
• Familiarity with architecture patterns such as MVVM, VIPER, MVI.
• Experience using OO and Functional Programming paradigm
• Strong understanding of UI design principles, patterns, and software principles. 
• Research, guide, and execute App and web architectural patterns including but by no means limited to GraphQL, server-side React rendering Reusable React components with modular CSS, React Query , MVVM, MVL etc.
• Understanding of different mobile/web automation  and regression testing framework like -Native Swift/Kotlin framework ,R2/Appium Framework
• Strong interest and curiosity in leveraging the latest in tech to solve customer problems
• Experience in communicating with end users, technical & business teams to collect requirements, describe product features, and technical designs.
• Ability to seek clarity in ambiguous situations and passionate about stakeholder management
