What You'll Do

  • Own the engineering strategy and execution for core product content processing systems, which serve as a source of truth for product content used across Walmart's digital product experiences, including product detail pages.
  • Lead the evolution of scalable pipelines that process product content from suppliers, sellers, and external brand sources, including images and videos, within defined service-level expectations, while advancing reusable capabilities for matching, ranking, merging, variants, and relationship processing to improve the accuracy, consistency, and quality of product content at scale.
  • Guide the architecture for emerging agentic interactions where they intersect with Catalog, partnering with enterprise teams to align on reusable patterns and platform capabilities.
  • Define and execute the technology roadmap for this portfolio, balancing foundational platform investments with near-term business priorities and customer outcomes.
  • Partner with Product, Business, Data Science, and Operations leaders to clarify priorities, make informed trade-offs, and deliver measurable outcomes for customers, sellers, suppliers, merchants, and associates.
  • Lead the design and operation of scalable, reliable, secure, and resilient distributed systems across the assigned Global Catalog portfolio.
  • Develop engineering leaders and senior technical talent, fostering clear ownership, sound engineering practices, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Improve platform effectiveness, catalog quality, engineering productivity, and cost efficiency through data, automation, and appropriate use of AI.

What You'll Bring

  • 18+ years of technology and engineering leadership experience, leading engineering managers, senior engineers, and architects. Strong experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems, with a focus on reliability, availability, performance, security, and operational excellence.
  • Experience leading platform, commerce, marketplace, or enterprise product engineering teams and delivering meaningful business and customer outcomes at scale.
  • Provides architectural guidance and solution review across multiple backend (for example, Java, Python, Go, Rust), technologies.
  • Drive standardization and reuse of architectural patterns, frameworks, and AI tooling across domains to accelerate time-to-market, reduce technical debt, and ensure architectural integrity.
  • Strong technical and architectural judgment across modern software platforms, cloud technologies, data-intensive systems, AI/ML-enabled capabilities, and platform engineering practices.
  • Ability to define and execute multi-year technology roadmaps while balancing foundational investments, operational priorities, and near-term delivery commitments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience building alignment across Engineering, Product, Business, Data Science, and Operations through collaboration and influence.
  • Proven ability to build and develop high-performing engineering teams, strengthen leadership capability, and foster a culture of accountability and engineering excellence.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, with experience in eCommerce, marketplace, commerce platforms, or large-scale product organisations preferred.
