Position Summary...

About Team

REO (Reliability Engineering & Operations) is a horizontal function responsible for Site reliability across multiple business segments (Walmart US, Intl) through a set of core services:

  • Command & Control Centre (Incident Management, & Production control)

  • Service Management (Change & Problem Management)

  • Site Reliability Engineering (Building and maintaining solutions for observability and recoverability)

  • Performance Engineering (Site Performance Certification & Optimization)

What you'll do:

As a Command and Control Center (CCC) leader within the Omni Tech Group,  you will work with Technical Duty Officers(TDO) and Site Reliability Operators(SRO), SRE, DevOps and Engineering practitioners to manage mission-critical infrastructure, tools, and processes that will ensure highest levels of availability and reliability of all our websites.

  • Play a critical role in shaping the product & technical vision for the team while working closely with product, business, and engineering leadership across the company on a regular basis.

  • Hire, mentor and lead a world class group of  engineers. 

  • Nurture the culture of innovation, experimentation and fail fast.

  • Interact ,Co-ordinate and Partner with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise 

What you'll bring:

The Manager is responsible for managing a team of Senior engineers through daily proactive monitoring and issue detection resolving issues before they become impacting. Manage engineer workloads, performance and deliver clear direction to the team. Responsible for customer follow up, control difficult calls, provide performance metrics and demonstrate expertise within Service Management processes and procedures to manage service impacting incidents. Architecture Acumen: Requires knowledge of: Architectural principles; Systems and environment behavior; Architectural Styles, Patterns and plans; Architectural standards; Non-functional System performance parameters; Technology Strategy. To assist in decomposing the product architecture into multiple components and modules and define architectural specifications for each module. Create/Apply the right architectural pattern across the module as indicated in the architectural plan to obtain the right result. Define the architecture blueprint for the various components within a product/solution. Analyze system performance impacting the complete product for non-functional requirements like reliability, operability, performance efficiency and security.


Requirement And Scoping Analysis: Requires knowledge of: Traceability matrix; Risk analysis methodologies; Cost Analysis; Business objectives; Classification of requirements; User stories To explore relevant products/solutions from an existing repertoire, that can address business/technical needs. Assess gaps/ updates/ modifications between the customer/business expectations and the existing product/solutions (in case of agile methodology, for the iteration). Classify the requirements into applicable types (For example - Functional/Non-Functional, Derived/Imposed/Emergent etc.). Anticipate the solution risks / issues during requirements gathering phase, inform relevant stakeholders and recommend corrective steps. Contribute to the creation of user stories for component/application/complex (For agile methodology).
 

Defect Management and Troubleshooting: Requires knowledge of: Defect life-cycle process, defect tracking tools and methodologies; Defect reporting; Regression testing; Root cause analysis; Root cause corrective action. To conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause corrective action (RCCA) to identify the origin of defects/ performance gaps and prevent them from recurring. Track registered issues for the product/solution and prioritize them for resolution. Measure usability of the product/solution as per customer/business requirement after defect fixing and plugging test gaps. Analyze the issues and plan a series of steps which potentially includes reconfiguration, integration, removal or addition of application components to enhance the application's functionality, usability and security.
 

DevOps Orientation: Requires knowledge of: Different operating systems; Software maintenance tools and techniques; Application monitoring tools and techniques; Debugging tools; Mock screen; Pseudocodes; Reverse Engineering; Traceability matrix; System performance, security, integration; Data migration and accessibility; Design Methodologies. To define the metrics to be tracked for effective monitoring of application performance. Lead application maintenance (corrective, adaptive, perfective) and re-engineering plans and activities and the development of documentation and training material. Drive application changes and enhancements, lead problem identification, technical impact analysis of maintenance activities.

10+ years in an infrastructure or systems environment delivering operational excellence to highly complex distributed systems.

·Experience in leading and troubleshooting service impacting incidents across large- scale enterprise systems.

·Methodical and systematic problem solving approach, combined with a solid awareness of ownership, initiative and drive.

·Experience controlling and leading a team to deliver in highly pressurized situations delivering clear and concise communication to partners and stakeholders.

· Experience of command and control tools in a production environment.

· Networking knowledge and understanding of network concepts, such as different protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc.), MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers, and load balancing).

·  Understanding of Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond, taking in system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols along the way.

·  Experience administering Linux systems in a production environment

Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Go, Python, Java, Ruby, Shell

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience

·  Experience with cloud technologies such as AZURE OpenStack

·  Experience with enterprise monitoring solutions like Prometheus, Graphite, Nagios, Sensu, Splunk, Grafana and Dynatrace.
