Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Job summary:

Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices. Provide solutions that enable end users the ability to perform various steps in Source to pay process and Expense Management. The ideal candidate is customer-centric, sensitive to design, fluent in analytics and the business model, actively communicates both up and down the org, and is results-oriented with a strong bias for action. This individual is an evangelist for the needs of both the customer and the business and has a deep understanding of the customers’ job to be done. The candidate possesses deep skills and experience in design, implementation and deployment of integrated Indirect Procurement Solutions ( Concur, SAP MM, SRM, Ariba, Coupa, etc).

The candidate is an excellent communicator and builds strong cross-functional relationships, internally and externally. This individual will be skilled in working across departments to collaborate with Business Managers, User Experience, Application Architects, Engineering, Program Managers, QA, and Operations teams. This position requires a good knowledge of Procurement, finance and accounting. Further, with teams across locations, exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate across goes is a must!

Indirect Procurement Technology is a key part of the Enterprise Business Services organization within Walmart Global Tech. What you'll do:

As an Engineering Manager you would be responsible to:

  • Drive Software architecture and deliver scalable Distributed systems. 
  • Technical leadership in building a complex open stack microservices based platform or product that are highly reliable, and scalable.
  • Provide guidance in applying the right architectural design pattern for the modernization of the applications by analyzing the gaps between existing architecture and new business requirements. 
  • Drive automation using more adoption and maturity on the CICD stage gates for the applications. 
  • Drive implementation of telemetry features based on the domain requirements to improve the overall operational excellence of the application.
  • Lead a team responsible for a suite of SaaS and full stack products.
  • Drive strategic technical decisions to transform our current SaaS products into home grown full-stack products.
  • Establish durable ways of working with product peers and other internal engineering teams to drive our product roadmap.
  • Build and coach a team of managers and senior ICs and align their strengths to outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and operational excellence.

What you'll bring:

  • An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream – Computer Science preferred.
  • 11+ years of total experience. 8+ years as an engineer. Coding competency should be a junior developer or higher.
  • Deep working knowledge of all aspects of Cloud native distributed system development.
  • Technical Proficiency in one or more of the languages such as Java, Python, React Native, Node JS, React JS, GraphQL 
  • Experience working with micro-services architecture, distributed systems, and applying design patterns.
  • Experience in all areas of engineering including DevOps, Chaos Engineering, SRE, and on-call rotations to assure service availability and operational excellence.
  • Experience managing software development engineers, leaders, architects and leading engineering projects, guiding engineering teams on engineering excellence & solid system design.
  • Ability to clearly articulate a technical vision and energize engineers towards outcomes.
  • Understanding of one or more SAP functional domains such as
    • Source to Contract (SAP MM, Ariba, Coupa, etc)
    • Travel & Expense (Concur)
    • Finance
