Ensure operations are efficient, safe, and compliant with all relevant regulations, contributing to the overall productivity and profitability of aggregate facilities. Hands-on problem solver, working with heavy machinery in demanding environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, proven project management abilities, and the skill to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders. This role involves hands-on engineering and oversight from concept through construction while maintaining effective communication with plant operators to VP’s.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Equipment Design and Modification:

  • Design, develop, and modify mechanical systems and components for aggregate processing plants, including crushers, screens, conveyors, washing equipment, and stockpiling systems.

  • Create and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software.

  • Select appropriate materials and components for optimal performance and longevity in abrasive and high-wear environments.

· Installation and Commissioning:

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new and upgraded mechanical equipment and systems.

  • Ensure installations meet design specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements.

· Maintenance and Reliability:

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.

  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.

  • Manage and schedule maintenance activities, coordinating with maintenance teams and external contractors.

· Project Management:

  • Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects related to mechanical upgrades, new installations, and plant improvements.

  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

  • Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and contractors.

· Operational Support:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance personnel.

  • Optimize plant layout and process flow for improved efficiency and material handling.

  • Investigate and resolve operational issues related to mechanical equipment.

· Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance:

  • Ensure all mechanical designs, operations, and maintenance activities comply with relevant health, safety (e.g., MSHA regulations), and environmental standards.

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety improvement initiatives.

  • Promote a strong safety culture within the workplace.

· Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency gains related to mechanical systems.

  • Stay updated with new technologies, industry best practices, and advancements in aggregate processing equipment.

  • Develop and test alternative designs and processing methods.

· Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including equipment records, maintenance logs, project reports, and technical drawings.

  • Prepare reports on equipment performance, project status, and maintenance activities.
