Job Summary:

We are seeking highly motivated emerging talent to participate in a 10-week immersive internship program from June 8, 2026, to August 14, 2026. This program offers university and graduate students hands-on experience through project-based work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Throughout the program, Interns will have exposure to mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities.

The Systems Engineering Intern will be the connection between hardware, software, and mechanical teams. This role will look at the entire project deliverable (e.g. space camera, star tracker) to ensure the design meets customer requirements.  The goal is to help translate complex mission requirements into technical realities that can withstand the harsh environment of space.

Responsibilities: 

• Assist in defining, decomposing, and tracking technical requirements to ensure the final product meets mission objectives
• Document how different electronic modules interact or exchange data (power, data, and physical mounting)
• Help define verification methods and approaches for technical requirements
• Help the team prepare for milestone gate reviews such as preliminary design (PDR), critical design review (CDR), test readiness review (TRR), and manufacturing readiness review (MRR)
• Help execute tests such as Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) or Vibration testing; review and present engineering data and artifacts that verify requirements have been met

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• Ability to see the big picture without losing sight of the technical details
• Familiarity with systems modeling tools like Model-Based Systems Engineering / MBSE
• Basic understanding of circuit design or embedded systems
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB or C++ for data analysis or simulation
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to communicate across engineering disciplines
• Ability to travel for in-person orientation and program kickoff as well as for final presentation at program completion

 Preferences:

• Previous internship, coursework, or project experience related to systems engineering
• Experience with NASA/ECSS standards and a passion for "new space" economy and orbital mechanics

Hourly Pay Range: $23.50-$30.00 per hour

*Hourly rate determined by academic year, college major, line of business, geography
