What you’ll do
Join the team as a Network Operations, Senior Engineer to provide technical support at all levels from application to hardware, including networking, to the Vodafone Mobile Service Network to ensure the best possible service availability for our, Online Charging, Unified Comms and Location Based Services.
Within this role you will working in a small, dedicated team to resolve incidents with minimum downtime, carry out changes to a high standard, out of hours if necessary, and partake in a 24x7 standby rota.
- Incident Management: Drive resolution of assigned incidents to minimize customer impact and assist in root cause identification.
- Change Management: Carry out changes to a high standard, minimizing impact to service and always following the change management process.
- Problem Management: Identify and resolve repeated faults and issues. Own and close corrective actions following major incident problem review.
- Project Implementation: Assist project teams to deliver all operational requirements. Ensure all deliverables are operationally supportable and raise risks where they are not. Keep abreast of technological changes and proposed Vodafone roadmaps.
- Teamwork: Collaborate and share knowledge. Build effective processes to ensure the team works cohesively. Be a good team player, flexible, and work in harmony to assist other team members. Cooperate across team functions to get things done together.
- Communication: Provide clarity of communication to provide timely updates to customers on progress, especially if problems and/or delays are encountered.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and security standards, including completion of mandatory training.
Who you are
- Technical capability in application, hardware, and providing networking support to resolve faults within Mobile Service Network (experience of Packet Core, Mobile Switching Centres etc acceptable)
- Good communication skills to interact across the business and engage with Incident, Problem & Change Management, Network Engineering, and Wholesale teams.
- Prior experience with owning and driving relationships with 3rd party vendors to progress faults and ensure critical systems are compliant with security standards and procedures.
- Experience in evolving network systems through the product lifecycle, including project delivery of new software and upgrades
- Prior Unix Experience: automation experience using python scripting is highly desirable
- Prior experience within Online Charging System (OCS) is highly desirable
