O que irá fazer

Role purpose: To drive the technology capabilities and services for the Financial Services Technology that will address the M-Pesa commercial strategy. As a manager of this function, you will play a pivotal role in driving organizational success by leading a group of engineers that play in the creative space of value creation under the Payments, Core and Financial Services M-Pesa Business verticals. You will be responsible for fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture within the Financial Services Division while ensuring alignment with the overall company vision. This role requires strong management and leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures.  

 

Key accountabilities and decision ownership 
• Provide overall Management Functions (Planning, Organize, Control, Lead) and direction to the core services capabilities group, acting as a role model by enabling and inspiring teams to excel in their performance.
• Collaborate with senior management, the architect and RTE within the tribe to define and enable the tribe's strategic objectives and ensure alignment with the company's overall goals. 
• Facilitate the professional growth and development of team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning.
• Oversee resource allocation within the core services capabilities group, ensuring optimal utilization of talent, skills, and budget. Identify and address any resource constraints or bottlenecks that may hinder the tribe's progress.
• Performance and Talent Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the tribe's performance including career and training roadmap. Regularly track and report on progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.    

 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience
• Demonstrated experience in the financial services sector, with a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges and regulatory requirements. 
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing teams of software engineers 
• Deep knowledge of software engineering best practices and processes, including agile methodologies 
• Proven track record of driving innovation and efficiency within a software engineering function 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams 
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions 

 

Must have technical / professional qualifications
• Relevant diploma or degree in Information Systems Technology and strong evidence of understanding of Financial Services Technologies, Mobile Telecommunications Programming, Product Technical Design, CI/CD pipelines or other;
• 3+ Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably as a team lead, Solutions Architect, Software Development senior role or other. Ability to articulate multicultural teams in onsite and offshore working modes;
• Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience with agile frameworks such as SAFe Scrum or Kanban.
• GSM and Fintech knowledge (desirable).
• CSP, PMI-ACP, SAFe SPC4 or equivalent certification (desirable).
