About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Application Database Administrator with 4–7 years of relevant experience to support DB2 and Informix database environments and deliver reliable database operations.
 
Based at SP Infocity, Pune, this role focuses on database administration, operational and critical-activity support, performance optimisation, availability and continual service improvement.
 
The role also involves applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and AI-driven optimisation across CRM and end-to-end operations, alongside service governance and service stability.

What you will do

  • Administer and provide operational support for DB2 and Informix databases in production environments.
  • Analyse database and application performance bottlenecks, including scripts, code and user-generated queries.
  • Perform SQL and database performance tuning and support DML operations.
  • Monitor databases using tools such as Enterprise Manager and Grafana.
  • Support database upgrades, migrations and integrations with other relational database management systems.
  • Manage database user access and contribute to security audits.
  • Participate in auditing and SOX compliance activities.
  • Support database backup and recovery and high-availability environments.
  • Collaborate with application teams to maintain stable database operations.
  • Provide on-call support for high-priority database incidents.
  • Work with ticketing tools to manage operational requests and incidents.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate BAU database operations and improve service stability.
  • Use UNIX and shell scripting to manage jobs and batch processes, tune existing processes and create new processes where required.
  • Apply proactive monitoring, reconciliation and continual-service-improvement practices.
  • Use observability platforms such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix for log analysis, alert tuning, dashboards and proactive monitoring.
  • Contribute to SRE practices and AI-driven optimisation initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency.

Who you are

  • You have 4–7 years of relevant Application DBA/database support experience, with at least four years in application database support operations.
  • You have hands-on expertise in DB2 and Informix, or expertise in DB2, Informix or Oracle databases.
  • You understand database administration, architecture and operational support.
  • You have experience in database and SQL performance tuning.
  • You understand database memory, storage and cluster architectures.
  • You have experience administering production databases and understand high-availability approaches.
  • You have experience with database upgrades, migrations, backup and recovery.
  • You have advanced UNIX knowledge and proficiency in shell scripting, along with at least one additional scripting language such as Perl.
  • You understand Oracle and non-Oracle database architectures.
  • You have exposure to monitoring and observability technologies such as Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix.
  • You have experience with proactive monitoring, automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement.
  • You bring effective analytical, communication, stakeholder-management and technical-leadership capabilities.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Telecom industry knowledge would be advantageous.
  • ITIL certification is desirable.
