Job Summary:
We are seeking a Mid-Level Full Stack Developer to support application development and data operations for a federal program. This role will be responsible for end-to-end application development across modern front-end interfaces, back-end services, REST APIs, microservices, databases, authentication, caching, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.

The successful candidate will work within an Agile development environment to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain secure and scalable applications using TypeScript, Node.js, Go, and modern SPA frameworks. This role requires hands-on experience across the full application stack and close collaboration with Product Owners, DevSecOps and Platform Engineers, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack web applications spanning user interfaces, back-end services, APIs, and relational databases.

  • Develop client-side and server-side application components using TypeScript.

  • Build and maintain Node.js services using Express and ORM technologies such as TypeORM.

  • Develop REST-based microservices in Go using Echo or similar frameworks.

  • Develop responsive single-page applications using Vue 3, React, Angular, or comparable modern front-end frameworks.

  • Design and maintain relational database structures using MariaDB/MySQL, SQL, and version-controlled schema migrations.

  • Implement Redis-based caching and session management.

  • Design and document REST APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger.

  • Implement secure authentication and authorization using OIDC, JWT, and identity providers such as Keycloak.

  • Develop and maintain automated test coverage using frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, Go testing and mocks, and Cypress.

  • Build, maintain, and support containerized application environments using Docker.

  • Contribute to automated build, test, security, and deployment pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.

  • Implement secure coding practices and address vulnerabilities identified through application and dependency scanning.

  • Conduct peer code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, implementation notes, and system design documentation.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, QA teams, DevSecOps engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-7 years of professional full-stack software development experience.

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance.

  • Professional experience using TypeScript for both client-side and server-side development.

  • Hands-on experience developing Node.js applications using Express.

  • Experience using an ORM such as TypeORM or a comparable technology.

  • Experience developing REST microservices in Go using Echo or a similar framework.

  • Experience with a modern single-page application framework such as Vue 3, React, or Angular.

  • Experience with relational databases, including MariaDB or MySQL.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience implementing version-controlled schema migrations.

  • Experience using Redis for application caching and session management.

  • Experience designing and documenting REST APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger.

  • Experience implementing OIDC and JWT-based authentication using Keycloak or a similar identity provider.

  • Experience developing automated tests using Vitest, Jest, or comparable JavaScript/TypeScript testing frameworks.

  • Experience with Go automated testing, including the use of mocks.

  • Experience developing end-to-end application tests using Cypress.

  • Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized application development.

  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.

  • Strong understanding of full-stack application architecture, integration, troubleshooting, and software development best practices.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Owners, DevSecOps/Platform Engineers, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience decomposing a monolithic application into microservices.

  • Experience implementing expand/contract database schema migration patterns during application modernization.

  • Experience implementing distributed tracing using OpenTelemetry.

  • Experience with structured application logging and observability practices.

  • Experience deploying and managing containerized applications using Kubernetes.

  • Experience with GitOps and Kubernetes configuration/deployment tools such as Flux, Kustomize, or Helm.

  • Experience with AWS services, including S3 and RDS.

  • Experience supporting applications in AWS GovCloud or DoD Impact Level 2 (IL2) or Impact Level 5 (IL5) environments.

  • Strong understanding of application security concepts, including the OWASP Top 10 and Content Security Policy (CSP).

  • Experience implementing software composition analysis (SCA) and dependency vulnerability scanning within CI pipelines.

  • Experience developing applications or services using Rust.

  • CompTIA Security+ certification meeting DoD 8140 IAT Level II requirements.

  • Prior experience supporting DoD or other Federal Government programs.
