Field Design Engineer

Description

VPG is seeking a highly motivated Field Design Engineer (FDE) to serve as the primary technical and commercial interface between customers, distribution partners, and internal teams. This hybrid role combines technical sales, application engineering, business development, and account management responsibilities to drive revenue growth, secure design wins, and expand market share , all within the region of Israel. 

The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background (Passives market is an advantage), excellent customer-facing skills, and a passion for helping customers solve complex engineering challenges while developing long-term business relationships. 

Business Development & Growth

• Identify and develop new business opportunities within target markets and existing accounts.
• Drive design-win activities, specification positioning, and competitive displacement.
• Execute territory growth plans with Strategic Account Managers and channel partners.
• Qualify new projects and applications to expand revenue opportunities.

Technical Support

• Support customers throughout the design cycle, including design reviews and application guidance.
• Assist with product qualification, validation, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate resolution of technical and quality-related issues.

Channel Development

• Enable and support distributors through training, joint customer engagements, and opportunity development.
• Drive pipeline growth, design registrations, and participation in QBRs.

Account Management

• Build strong relationships with engineering, purchasing, and executive stakeholders.
• Manage opportunities, forecasts, quotations, and customer programs.
• Maintain CRM accuracy, forecast visibility, and customer satisfaction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Represent customer and market needs to internal teams.
• Support product roadmap initiatives and business planning activities.
• Collaborate closely with sales, product management, operations, quality, and manufacturing teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in field applications engineering, technical sales, design engineering, or account management.
• Strong technical sales capabilities - Must!
• 2-4 years of experience in customer support
• Experience in management of direct reports (or equivalent)
• Experience supporting OEM customers within industrial, aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor, instrumentation, or automation markets.
• Strong problem-solving, independence, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage technical and commercial discussions with customers and distribution partners.
• Experience with CRM systems, opportunity management, and forecasting tools (Nice to have an advantage)
