Position Summary:

The Data Engineering role for the VCA Asia Pacific Region, based out of Bangalore. We are looking for an expert with deep expertise in data warehousing and can build large-scale data processing systems by using the latest database and data processing technologies. This is a pan-regional position and plays a critical role in enabling the data platforms through which Data

Scientists, Analysts, and BI Users drive solutions for our Visa clients. The Data Engineer takes responsibility for building and running data pipelines, designing data warehouse, data marts and data frameworks, and catering for different data presentation techniques. The Data Engineer would be responsible for end to end handling of client requirements and also other data engineering assignments.

Principal Responsibilities E2E responsibility of client requirements for VCA AP. • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture(s), based on our Global Technology Stack • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements to provide greater scalability to our existing client solutions • Develop custom-built packages to support the needs of Data Scientists across the region • Work with broader business stakeholders to assist clients and consultants with their data and infrastructure needs • Provide support in identifying, implementing and managing new data tools and processes, relevant to data science. • Provide technical product and business support for development of new platforms, tools for data science built using both on-premise and cloud technologies. • Partner with Technology on quarterly planning cycle and support management with relevant metrics to evaluate performance, stability and reliability of various tools. • Continuous focus on improving infrastructure efficiency by analyzing logs of queries, tuning settings, translating queries if required. Script review for best practices, educating user base and building training assets for beginner and intermediate users. • Policy guidance and administration of data science tools including GIT, ETL schedulers, Hadoop components (Spark/Hive/etc) etc. to ensure optimum utilization and efficiency. • Increase consistency of tool usage by developing guidance for standard toolsets for specific data science applications and sharing with user community

Visa's Commercial Payments organization is responsible for managing Visa's B2B Payment Global adoption on Cross-Border funds movement, innovation agenda and the management of strategic partnerships with critical financial institutions. This group is responsible for defining and building the Non-Card based payment innovation and product for Visa Inc. Globally. This includes:

Distributed-Ledger based Cross border payment platform

Near time Settlement

Enterprise ID stamping to create a digital identity for corporate entities

Hyperledger chain-code development

End-to-End Payment eco-system

Essential Functions

Work on emerging technologies, building distributed applications.

Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.

Drive development effort End-to-End for on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that conform to requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards.

Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan contingency, track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved.

Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.

Partner with Product on implementation strategy.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

2-4 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or an advanced degree in Computer Science or related field

MS in Computer Science or related field preferred and Qualification in Computer Science or related Engineering ideal.

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of experience with distributed software development.

Hands-on experience with all aspects of software development: data, server-side, UI, and open-source software.

Expertise in at least two of the following: Python / SQL /Scala.

Working knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem and associated technologies, e.g., Apache Spark, MLlib, GraphX, etc is a must. Data Science knowledge is a plus (iPython, sci-kit, and Pandas, etc).

Advanced experience in writing and optimizing efficient SQL queries and Python scripts; Scala experience is ideal

Certification in Hadoop (Cloudera or Hortonworks) and Apache Spark, Apache Hive and related technologies.

Knowledge of developing Data Pipeline, including Ingestion, Transformation, Extraction etc. is a must.

Experience in large Data Pipeline handing is a is a must.

Familiar with container strategies and ecosystems such as Docker, Kubernetes is a plus.

Knowledge of cloud architecture and scalable solutions including orchestration
