Join our dynamic Enablement Team, the technological backbone empowering all product divisions at our company. As a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to lead and innovate on our critical systems, including our workflow event-driven architecture and our advanced enrollment system, which supports seamless applicant onboarding across diverse products. Furthermore, you will have opportunities to embed in product teams, integrating your implementation directly into user-facing features. Looking ahead, you'll play a pivotal role in our strategic discernment process, identifying and championing new investment areas to tackle essential business challenges. This role is perfect for forward-thinking developers eager to impact a wide range of initiatives and drive technological excellence across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, and implement innovative technical solutions that address critical business needs, while strategically transitioning from and phasing out legacy systems.

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot code for mission-critical components, ensuring high reliability and performance.

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, fellow engineers, and designers to align development efforts with the team’s strategic objectives.

  • Serve as a technical leader: spearhead projects, provide mentorship, and foster a culture of empathy and collaboration as you work alongside other engineering teams.

  • Uphold and champion our company’s cultural values, inspiring and motivating team members to do the same.

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Develop and deploy multiple features encompassing both front-end and back-end development, ensuring comprehensive test coverage to maintain high standards of quality and reliability.

  • Actively engage with other engineering team members, enhancing our collective knowledge through pair programming, sharing best practices, and providing constructive feedback during code reviews.

  • Identify and implement at least one significant process or product improvement, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of our engineering practices and team efficiency.

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of shipping backend and frontend code in a high quality production environment.

  • Proven expertise in building, deploying, and maintaining microservices.

  • Experience with data and event-based architectures such as SQL/NoSQL datastores and messaging queues.

  • Experience with Golang and/or Python.

  • Proficiency with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS and/or Azure.

  • Exceptional communication skills with a track record of effectively engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Practical experience with React; additional experience with React Native is a bonus.

  • Demonstrated commitment to long-term strategic thinking, aiming to make substantial business impacts while maintaining high engineering quality.

Virta has a location based compensation structure. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
