Backend Engineer, Help Experience

Information about the position 

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our young team to provide self-help and machine-help for our Vinted members. This team has the potential to save millions of euros and transform stranded users into engaged advocates of our sustainable marketplace. This directly supports our mission to make second-hand first choice worldwide.

As our new Backend Engineer in this team, you will play an integral role in rewriting components of the first touch point for all Vinted users seeking support — our Help Centre. Additionally, you will collaborate with the team to develop a scalable and highly effective Customer Support Chatbot to assist Vinted members. We will assess and implement the best and latest technologies to personalise the experience. You’ll have the opportunity to expand your skills in many directions, gaining hands-on experience with AI, ML, Search up to Content Management technologies, and leveraging them to impact millions of users.

In this position, you’ll 

• Work in a cross-functional team and design and build features that improve our members’ lives by finding help fast and effortlessly.
• Collaborate with developers during pairing sessions, design deep dives and code reviews. Team up with our Staff Engineer on architectural topics.
• Mentor and support engineers in their growth.
• See your code affect 100+ million users almost instantly. 
• Work on extracting and building new services and move our team towards higher autonomy.
• Work with a healthy mix of battle tested and emerging technologies such as: Golang, Ruby on Rails, Vitess, Redis, Kafka, Vespa, Temporal and many more.
• Contribute to systems which handle more than 2M requests per minute on our Kubernetes clusters. 
• Instrument and monitor your deployed code through Grafana, Datadog and Kibana using the OpenTelemetry standard.

About you 

• During the past years, you gathered strong knowledge in high-level programming languages and gained extensive experience in software development.
• You have solid expertise in Golang; being knowledgeable in Ruby on Rails is a plus.
• Excitement to learn and master new technologies and concepts.
• Experience or an interest in AI, LLM’s, chatbots or search technology is a plus.
• You have the desire and commitment to grow personally and professionally.
• You have prior experience in mentoring engineers.
• You are a proficient communicator in spoken and written English.

The salary range for this position is € 4,975 - € 6,725 gross per month.
