Senior Mobile Application Developer (Android – Jetpack Compose & Kotlin)
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mobile Application Developer specializing in Jetpack Compose and Kotlin to help us build and maintain scalable, consistent, and visually compelling UI components. This role involves working closely with our design and product teams to implement and evolve a custom Design System tailored to our brand. You will also contribute to the development and enhancement of our Android Studio Plugin, used internally to boost productivity and consistency across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Jetpack Compose & Design System Development
- Design, develop, and maintain reusable Jetpack Compose UI components aligned with our internal Design System guidelines.
- Ensure consistency in visual language, spacing, theming, typography, and component behavior across mobile applications.
- Collaborate with designers to implement pixel-perfect components with a strong emphasis on accessibility and responsiveness.
- Work with teams to adopt and integrate design system components into multiple Android apps.
Studio Plugin Development
- Enhance and maintain a custom-built Android Studio Plugin to assist internal developers with visual component previews and quick insertion of design system elements.
- Implement plugin features like property inspectors, code generators, and UI editors in coordination with the development workflow.
- Leverage the Jewel UI framework (Compose-based for JetBrains IDEs) to build modern, consistent, and responsive plugin interfaces.
- Ensure plugin stability across Android Studio updates and improve usability based on developer feedback.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality features.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship on best practices in Jetpack Compose, Kotlin, and architectural patterns.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and contribute to improving team processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5–7+ years of Android application development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Experience with building and maintaining custom Design Systems is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with plugin development in Android Studio (e.g., using Swing, Compose for Desktop, Jewel) will be a strong added advantage.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and accessibility standards.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD tools for mobile development.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
