About the Role
We're seeking a seasoned backend engineer to drive product innovation and deliver high-impact results. While machine learning expertise is beneficial, strong foundational skills in backend development are essential. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain scalable services and APIs, ensuring our backend infrastructure supports our ambitious growth objectives.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs.

• Optimize databases and system architecture for peak performance.

• Build fault-tolerant systems with effective load balancing and redundancy.

• Collaborate closely with Machine Learning, Frontend, DevOps, and Data Engineering teams to deliver cohesive end-to-end solutions, align on technical decisions, and ensure smooth integration between system components

• Lead by example in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, maintaining high code quality and system reliability through rigorous testing and documentation.

• Engage in continuous learning and adopt new technologies to enhance backend infrastructure.

• Participate in on-call duties to ensure system stability and performance.

Technical Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in backend engineering

• Proficiency in Python for building scalable applications, with additional experience in implementations using other languages (Scala, Java, Go) considered valuable

• Experience designing and implementing high-performance HTTP services (both internal APIs and external-facing endpoints) capable of handling significant traffic loads

• Experience with optimizing distributed systems

• Experience Docker, k8s, HELM

• Experience with Cloud platforms: AWS (additionally, nice to have: GCP, Azure)

• Experience with databases: PosgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, OpenSearch

• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and GitHub Actions

• Experience with AI-dev tools (e.g. GitHub Co-Pilot, Cursor)

• Ability to work with modern data integration and analytics tools

• Nice to have: experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Kinesis, SQS

• Nice to have: familiarity with Machine Learning / ML Ops
