Senior Prompt Engineer

We do this by enabling companies to execute on business outcomes across their media investment instead of more traditional media metrics. VideoAmp is the software and data solutions company powering the convergence of linear TV and digital video advertising. Our solutions connect linear TV viewership with addressable data assets to benefit the marketing and media industries. This enables marketers and content owners to holistically plan, transact, and measure deduplicated audiences across digital video, OTT, connected and linear TV advertising. 

Role & Responsibilities

Location: Remote (United States)

The successful candidate is a motivated, hardworking leader who possesses an extremely high bar for themselves and the quality of their work. This is a highly technical position that requires a breadth of knowledge across multiple systems and the ability to execute complex cross-team initiatives.

• Prompt Design and Optimization:
• Develop, test, evaluate and refine prompts to achieve desired outputs from AI models.
• Experiment with different prompt structures to enhance model performance, accuracy, and coherence.
• Continuously iterate and improve prompts based on feedback and model behavior.
• Data Analysis and Model Tuning:
• Analyze model outputs and identify patterns or trends in responses to fine-tune prompts.
• Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to adjust AI model parameters to improve prompt interactions.
• Conduct A/B testing and other evaluation techniques to measure the effectiveness of various prompt designs.
• Understanding Model Capabilities:
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, NLP, and deep learning to understand the strengths and limitations of AI models.
• Assess how different language models (e.g., GPT, LLaMA, etc.) respond to prompts and adjust approaches accordingly.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders:
• Work closely with product managers, software developers, and content creators to ensure that AI outputs align with business objectives.
• Understand end-user needs and goals to create prompts that produce user-friendly, actionable, and useful results.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain thorough documentation of prompt engineering processes, iterations, and results.
• Provide regular reports on prompt performance, model behavior, and any issues encountered.

Preferred Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience working with AI language models or conversational AI applications, or similar.
• Background in fields like computational linguistics, cognitive science, or AI/ML.
• Experience with large language models (LLMs) and prompt-tuning frameworks.

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• A detail-oriented mindset to handle the nuances of language and model outputs.
• Curiosity and a passion for emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

• Technical Knowledge:
• Proficiency in natural language processing (NLP) techniques and AI language models like GPT, Claude, etc.
• Basic programming skills in Python, with familiarity in using APIs for AI models. Working experience with SDKs of LM providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, ...), and higher level libraries for prompt programing (such as Lang Chain, LlamaIndex) is a strong plus.
• Professional or training experience with prompt design with LLMs.
• Linguistic Expertise:
• Strong understanding of language, grammar, semantics, and sentence structure.
• Ability to craft clear, precise, and effective prompts that yield desired outcomes.
• Analytical Skills:
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate large sets of AI outputs.
• Ability to interpret results from experiments with quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques, and adjust prompt strategies accordingly.
• Creativity and Innovation:
• Creative thinking to develop unique and unconventional approaches to prompt design.
• Ability to experiment with language and structure to uncover novel techniques for interacting with AI models.

What We Offer

Minimum base salary of $130,000 - $155,000 + Equity + Benefits. The actual compensation offer will be determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, applicant's qualifications, skills, and experience.
