The team is part of our Engineering organization and focuses on delivering a smooth, reliable, and high-quality Viaplay experience across devices, with the player at the heart of what we do. The Role 

As part of the Device Experience team, you’ll help shape the playback experience across iOS and tvOS. You’ll work hands-on with the player and the surrounding app experience, improving playback quality, performance, reliability, and how seamlessly Viaplay works across Apple devices.

You’ll join an autonomous, metrics-driven team with a strong product mindset. The team moves fast, learns by doing, and cares deeply about quality. We value people who bring curiosity, ownership, and the drive to continuously improve the experience for our users.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers across platforms, as well as product managers, designers, and other teams across Viaplay to solve complex playback and device-related challenges. Alongside your team, you’ll also be part of the iOS guild, where developers share knowledge and strengthen the iOS and tvOS platforms across Viaplay.

What you’ll do:

• Build and improve the playback experience across Viaplay’s iOS and tvOS apps

• Work hands-on with video players and player-related functionality

• Improve playback quality, performance, stability, and reliability across devices

• Investigate player issues and use data and insights to identify opportunities for improvement

• Collaborate across teams and platforms to create a seamless viewing experience

• Contribute to high-quality iOS and tvOS development through testing, code reviews, and thoughtful architecture

• Share learnings in the iOS guild and help evolve our platform, tools, and ways of working

What we’re looking for 

We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following:

• Several years of experience in iOS development

• Hands-on experience working with video players or video playback

• Strong skills in Swift

• Experience building applications with UIKit and SwiftUI

• Solid understanding of iOS architecture, frameworks, and best practices

• Experience with API integrations, networking, and data storage

• A strong quality mindset, including unit testing, code reviews, and maintainable code

• An interest in performance, reliability, and solving complex technical problems

• Interest in exploring AI and how new tools can evolve the craft of software development

It’s a bonus if you have: 

• Experience with AVPlayer or other Apple media frameworks

• Experience with Objective-C and tvOS

• Experience with streaming technologies and playback-related challenges

• Familiarity with modern Apple frameworks such as Swift Concurrency or Combine

• Experience with observability, performance monitoring, or analytics

• Experience with CI, GitHub Actions, or Fastlane
