Backend Engineer

About the Role

As a backend developer, you will build both the backend for new services, as well as develop the tools, frameworks, and environments that enable future backend engineers to excel. You will collaborate closely with the product team to ensure your service design is precisely aligned with our customers’ needs.

Responsibilities

• Creating software design and architecture proposals
• Planning, coordinating, and estimating the work and time required to deliver new features
• Developing, deploying, and monitoring internal and customer-facing micro-services from code to Kubernetes
• Implementing modern analytic and monitoring tools
• Configuring CI to allow correct and rapid iteration on code

About You

• 3+ years of experience working a backend role
• Experience as a tech lead or mentor
• 2+ years working with Go
• Experience writing, building, and deploying your own Docker images
• Experience working with analytic and monitoring tools, such as Sentry, DataDog, Mixpanel, New Relic, etc
• Professional experience with Kubernetes

• Experience in the Automotive industry or a love of cars
• Prior work in small, agile teams

• Follow the guidelines in the Employee Handbook
• Participate in new hire and annual training for security and privacy
• Treat data security and privacy as one of your primary job responsibilities
• Report Security Incidents you discover as bugs
• Get approval from the Security Team before adding new 3rd party software to our codebase
• Explicitly consider security implications when doing PR reviews
