Overview

We are looking for an experienced back-end engineer to join the Verkada Core Platform team and work on our Auth Platform. Authentication systems require innovative thinking and creative problem-solving to balance security requirements with usability and performance considerations. Every line of code written contributes to safeguarding sensitive data and enhancing user experiences.
 
This team builds the platform and shared services that enable Verkada to quickly bring to market a suite of IoT devices and to power Verkada’s “operating system for buildings. As a member of the Core team, you will be the architect, designer, and developer in a broad range of projects. You will have the opportunity to work on critical systems that directly impact the security, usability, and reliability of Verkada’s products or services.
 
Engineers on this team work closely with all teams at Verkada, including frontend developers, product managers, security experts, and operations teams to solve problems and drive innovation.
 
You will:
  • Define and execute on engineering roadmap to improve Auth API and platform
  • Improve performance and scalability of Auth platform and ensure that our systems scale with the business as we grow and move upmarket
  • Partner with engineering teams at Verkada to address new and existing Auth use cases
  • Improve the user experience by implementing seamless authentication flows- single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA)
  • Ensure that Verkada’s authentication systems comply with relevant regulations and standards
  • Work with high concurrency key-value storage systems (Redis, DynamoDB)
  • Spin up new services in a microservices architecture
  • Help lead and grow junior engineers

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study
  • Experience driving technical direction and leading teams towards project execution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Mastery of at least one common server programming language (Python, Go)
  • Experience with relational databases like Postgres, MySQL, etc
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale

Pay Disclosure

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

$130,000—$280,000 USD
