What you’ll be doing...

This role is to provide USSOCOM with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services.

The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.
Under the direction of the Sr. Network Engineer, the Network Engineer performs Tier three network support in accordance with the SIE OPORD. This position tests and analyzes elements of network facilities, including power, software, security features, communications devices, communications lines, modems, and
terminals and is responsible for the overall integration of the enterprise network.

The Network Engineer is also responsible for planning, modeling, simulation, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the network. This position monitors and controls the performance and status of network resources by using software and hardware tools, as well as by identifying and diagnosing complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
 
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support systems and network engineering and architectural planning services.

  • Interface with O&M personnel for design and project support.

  • Support and review existing architectures on a regular basis, recommending and assisting with the design and implementation of systems and network improvements as required.

  • Support systems engineering with a focus on the end-to-end functionality of complex systems.

  • Support service integration, database structure management, active directory services/DNS, Thin/zero client.

  • Provide data storage support within SANs technologies, NAS technologies, iSCSI, and DAS.

  • Monitor PKI/certificate authority.

  • Support disaster recovery and backup/restore functions.

  • Support efforts for cybersecurity technology, risks identification and risk mitigation strategies related to cybersecurity, and support documentation in accordance with applicable DoD and IC directives.

  • Maintain LAN, WAN and VoIP infrastructures, voice and data network systems, engineering, and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices and network management systems.

  • Establish SATCOM with an emphasis on IP satellite.

  • Provide support with Wireless networking, Application delivery networking, Cloud computing, Mobile computing, End Point management, and desktop computing.

  • Provide Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) or other NSA Capabilities Package.

  • Working with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management.

  • Some positions may require shift work and/or an ability to work a non-standard work schedule to support the USSOCOM mission

Please note this role will be worksite based Monday Through Friday in Tampa, FL.

What we’re looking for...

The Network Engineer must be detail oriented and have in-depth knowledge of networking hardware and software. Must have extensive experience in areas such as network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, Internet protocols and TCP/IP, as well as server and network infrastructure.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Must have a current DoD security clearance at the TS/SCI level.

  • Cisco, Juniper and or Aruba Certifications.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's degree in a technical field.

  • Excellent communication skills.
