Senior Software Engineer - Machine Learning

About you:

You specialize in designing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning models and algorithms to enhance search capabilities and user experiences. Your role involves analyzing large datasets, identifying patterns, and developing predictive models to improve search relevance, query understanding, and recommendation systems. You'll be at the forefront of leveraging large language models, vector embeddings, generative AI and large-scale dense vector spaces to revolutionize search and user experiences. You collaborate closely with search engineers, data scientists, and product managers to understand user needs, define success metrics, and iterate on AI/ML solutions to continuously enhance search performance.

Responsibilities 

• Developing machine learning models and algorithms to solve specific business problems.

• Collecting, preprocessing, and cleaning data for analysis and modeling.

• Exploring and visualizing data to gain insights and inform modeling decisions.

• Selecting appropriate machine learning techniques and algorithms for a given task.

• Training, fine-tuning, and validating machine learning models using relevant frameworks and tools.

• Optimizing models for performance, scalability, and efficiency.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., data scientists, software engineers, product managers) to integrate machine learning solutions into products or systems.

• Deploying machine learning models into production environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Monitoring and evaluating model performance in production, and implementing necessary updates or improvements.

• Staying updated on the latest advancements in machine learning techniques, tools, and technologies, and incorporating them into practice when appropriate.

Required Skills 

• Strong understanding of networking protocols, communication patterns, & data serialization formats in distributed systems.

• Proven experience in designing & developing distributed systems, with a solid understanding of distributed computing concepts & principles.

• Experience in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. Experience working with Postgres, DynamoDB, Temporal, & Thrift are also helpful.

• An interest in staying up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, & advancements in distributed systems.

• Experience working with platforms such as Amazon AWS & Docker Kubernetes.

• Senior level (6+ years) experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
