Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a full-time Senior Data Platforms Engineer (Multiple openings) in Irving, TX.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Senior Data Platforms Engineer will be well versed in managing/maintaining Hadoop and Kafka Streaming platforms from Cloudera or Confluent or Apache Kafka. Specifically, the Sr Data Platforms Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • installing, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining Hadoop and Kafka components in an enterprise environment;
  • performing throughput analysis, capacity planning, on-going optimization, and tuning of Informatica components for business-critical solutions;
  • acting as a SME on ETL and Data Transformation Tools and administering the Hadoop platform;
  • supporting newer cloud native platforms and next generation application platforms such as Kubernetes;
  • working with other infrastructure teams to ensure an effective operating environment which will include throughput analysis, capacity planning, on-going optimization and tuning of Informatica objects and environment;
  • setting up LDAP and Users/ Groups Creation, Access Management (Privileges and Permissions);
  • managing Infrastructure as Code via Ansible, Terraform or similar; supporting disaster recovery testing and implementing disaster recovery functions;
  • coordinating with development and infrastructure groups to prepare and implement planned maintenance outages;
  • designing and implementing monitoring and alerting strategies to enforce application SLAs;
  • developing, testing, and debugging automated tasks (Apps, Systems, Infrastructure);
  • troubleshooting priority incidents and facilitating blameless post-mortems;
  • performing analytics on previous incidents and usage patterns to better predict issues and take proactive actions; and working with development teams throughout the software life cycle ensuring sustainable software releases.
  • The Sr Data Platforms Engineer will use the following technologies to perform the duties of the position: Kafka; Hive data warehouse; UNIX scripting and Python scripting; big data technologies including but not limited to Spark, Hadoop, Cassandra, Presto, Druid, etc.; ELK, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, Jaeger, Graphite, or any other widely used observability tools; Kubernetes, Docker, Service Mesh (Istio), Terraform, Ansible, Jenkin; DevOps environment (Git/GitHub, GitOps, CI/CD Pipelines); and Agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Computer Information Systems and 5 years of (progressive, post-baccalaureate) experience in a data platform engineering position in the banking / finance industry.

Required Skills/Experience:
Must also have 60 months (5 years) of experience with each of the following: 1) Managing and maintaining Hadoop and Kafka Streaming platforms from Cloudera or Confluent or Apache Kafka and installing, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining Hadoop and Kafka components in an enterprise environment. 2) Performing throughput analysis, capacity planning, on-going optimization, and tuning of Informatica components for business-critical solutions. 3) Acting as a SME on ETL and Data Transformation Tools and administering the Hadoop platform. 4) Setting up LDAP and Users/ Groups Creation, Access Management (Privileges and Permissions); managing Infrastructure as Code via Ansible, Terraform or similar; supporting disaster recovery testing and implementing disaster recovery functions. 5) Performing duties using the following tools/technologies: Kafka; Hive data warehouse; UNIX scripting and Python scripting; bigdata technologies including but not limited to Spark, Hadoop, Cassandra, Presto, Druid, etc.; ELK, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, Jaeger, Graphite, or any other widely used observability tools; Kubernetes, Docker, Service Mesh (Istio), Terraform, Ansible, Jenkin; DevOps environment (Git/GitHub, GitOps, CI/CD Pipelines); and Agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.

Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $163,966 - $176,100. (#LI-NDI #LI-DNI #LI-DNP #DE-DNP).
