Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Reliability Engineer (multiple positions). Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 800 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55402.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for supporting production applications and proactively looking for ways to automate discoveries, eliminate incidents from recurring and/or reduce the time it takes to get our customers back up and running. In addition, this role will focus on improving the following for our applications: availability, latency, performance, efficiency, and effective proactive monitoring.

Specific duties include: (1) interface with business users, development teams and system administrators to ensure systems perform to meet their business needs and specifications; (2) develop, coordinate, and conduct technical reliability studies on engineering designs to assess the likelihood that a product/process performs its intended function over the intended lifecycle; (3) measure and analyze the reliability of the design, materials, processes, cost, and final products of production; (4) recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability; (5) implement experience with Incident Management, Problem Management, and Knowledge Management principles and Service Now; (6) undertake testing and analysis on failures, proposing changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability; (7) work in financial services industry, including on call production support, triage of production outages, and collaboration with support teams to effect rapid recovery; (8) work with development, architect and product groups to gather information on new product features and software design implementations; (9) define, set up, and maintain application Service Level Objectives(SLOs) to ensure that the services meet customer expectations and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) using the following tools: AppDynamics, SignalFX, and Kibana; (10) use Splunk and other application log parser tools to capture and analyze production usage patterns and utilize the data to conduct infrastructure capacity planning; (12) work with systems architecture, networking topologies, multi-cluster applications, multi-tenant platforms, and systems/network security; (13) large scale application troubleshooting and application performance tuning while working with monitoring and observability tools including Splunk, AppDynamics, Kibana, and Thousand Eye; and (14) work with the following tools and technologies: UNIX, C, C++, Python, JAVA, Springboot, WebSphere, HTTP, TIBCO, Apigee, .NET, Kubernetes and J2EE Applications.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science and 5 years (progressive, post-baccalaureate) software application maintenance and application performance tuning experience.

Required Skills/Experience:

Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: (1) large scale application troubleshooting and application performance tuning while working with monitoring and observability tools including Splunk, AppDynamics, Kibana, and Thousand Eyes; (2) working with systems architecture, networking topologies, multi-cluster applications, multi-tenant platforms, and systems/network security; (3) implementing experience with Incident Management, Problem Management, and Knowledge Management principles and Service Now; (4) working in financial services industry, including on call production support, triage of production outages, and collaboration with support teams to effect rapid recovery; and (5) working with the following tools and technologies: UNIX, C, C++, Python, JAVA, Springboot, WebSphere, HTTP, TIBCO, Apigee, .NET, Kubernetes and J2EE Applications. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently. Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 800 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55402.

Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $135,200 - $150,500
