U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Principal Engineer in Hopkins, MN. Multiple openings.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Principal Engineer will guide a team of innovators and technologists toward creating next-level solutions that improve the way our business is run. This position will take responsibility for partnering with key technical and business stakeholders, will help refine the product vision, estimate, and design a solution, create, purchase, or customize the requisite hardware and software to create the solution, ensure the quality of the final product through manual and automated tests, and support the new software as it is moved to production. In addition, the Principal Engineer will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles. Specific duties include:

  • Provide high-level architectural guidance and assist the team in aligning architecture to business requirements;

  • Work across the organization to foster a culture of architecture that allows for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling;

  • Establish engineering strategic objectives that drive architecture and technical approach;

  • Coach the engineering organization on a debugging mindset with a view of using the appropriate tools for specific needs;

  • Select and procure tools and establish processes to support the team in effective troubleshooting;

  • Take ownership of decisions made in the engineering organization by helping teams make clear decisions in alignment with enterprise goals, backing decisions made, and taking responsibility for their success;

  • Work on enterprise cloud computing platforms AWS or Azure, integrating various Azure services into application architecture such as Azure functions, Azure App Services, Azure storage, Azure Logic apps, Azure Kubernetes services, Azure monitoring and performance tuning tools;

  • Influence a cross functional team to obtain desired results, initiate new efforts through iterative design and drive the engineering teams to completion and knowledge in modeling and application design and architecture;

  • Utilize experience in Microservices/API development using Spring JPA, Spring Core, Spring Security, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring Integration, GraphQL, GraphQL Schema stitching, Netflix DGS Framework and Apollo Federation, .Net based Web Api, .Net Core and Webservices;

  • Perform work with the following web technologies: XML, JSON, React JS, React Native, Angular, Node, ASP.Net, MVC, KnockoutJs NPM, HTML 5, DHTML, NUnit, TypeScript and JavaScript;

  • Apply experience with streaming data tools and software such as Apache or Confluent Kafka; Spark applications in Scala to handle large-scale real time as well as batch processing and Hive queries to maintain data in Datawarehouse(ELZ) for analysis and reporting purposes; working with relational databases like Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and Big data databases like HDFS Hadoop, Cassandra, MongoDB; working with Jenkins, Kubernetes, Kibana and Apigee, Docker, RKT, Kubernetes, Cucumber, Dynatrace, Kibana, Splunk, SonarQube, Fortify and Black Duck.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering and 5 years related (progressive, post-baccalaureate) software engineering experience.

Required Skills/Experience:

This position is with U.S. Bank National Association, a U.S. Bank company. Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $141,898 - $171,000. (#LI-NDI #LI-DNI #LI-DNP #DE-DNP).
