Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Lead Software Engineer. Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 800 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis, MN 55402.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development of the SMB self-service BI platform to serve organization-wide business analytics and data needs. Participate in the design and development of analytics data warehouse, build data integrations to consolidate enterprise data from different data sources, and create reusable data services for internal and external data consumers. Responsible for designing, developing, testing, operating and maintaining data warehouse, including schema and table design, metadata management, data ETL, and make recommendations to optimize performance. Work closely with multiple engineering and product teams to drive near and long-term initiatives to improve organizational wide analytics and customer experience. Lead migrations from Postgres to next-gen enterprise data warehouse solution facilitating analysis and machine learning. Design, develop, and support new and current ETL processes employing industry standards and best practices to enhance loading of data from and into different source/ target systems. Consistently writing production-ready code that is easily testable, easily understood by other developers, and account for edge cases and errors. Design framework for reusable data services to provide developers and data analysts with simple programmatic tools to find and extract the data they need with little effort. Consistently create optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; considers scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs. Take feedback from code review and apply changes to meet standards. Conduct code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures. Serve as a mentor to coach and support junior engineers to continue to raise the engineering bar across the organization. Use the following tools and technologies: SQL, Python, PySpark, GIT, Jenkins, Airflow ETL Orchestration tool, BI application tools. Also use AWS Cloud Services like S3, EC2, Lambda, CloudWatch, and Google BigQuery Datawarehouse. This position supervises approximately 2 peer Senior Software Engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering and 5 years (progressive, post-baccalaureate) software development experience.

Required Skills/Experience:

Must have 24 months of experience leading a team of Data Engineers. Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Business Requirements Analysis, Data Analysis, Design Data Engineering solutions for Data Warehouse and Data Lake systems using Cloud Technologies; 2) Design and Develop Data Engineering ETL solutions and Data pipelines using advanced Data Analytics tools and technologies; 3) Use the following Devops methodologies and tools like GIT, Jenkins, Ansible; Talend ETL tools, Spark applications and Cassandra Database; and BI application tools like SAP Business Objects and Tableau reporting; and 4) Use the following programming languages: SQL, Python, and PySpark. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.

Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $135,200  - $190,400
