Senior Manager - Application Development & Support

Location: Remote, US

We're looking for a Senior Manager of Application Development & Support to lead the team responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting the software solutions that power our business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives balancing innovation with operational excellence—leading engineers, delivering new capabilities, and ensuring production systems remain secure, reliable, and scalable.

You'll lead a talented team of software developers and application support engineers while partnering with business leaders to deliver technology that makes a meaningful impact across our organization.

What You'll Do

Lead & Inspire
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software developers and application support engineers.
  • Establish team priorities, remove obstacles, and create an environment where engineers can do their best work.
  • Coach team members through career development, performance management, and technical growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
Drive Software Delivery
  • Partner with business and operational leaders to understand needs and translate them into a clear technology roadmap.
  • Prioritize competing initiatives across new development, system integrations, enhancements, and production support.
  • Lead delivery of software solutions through every phase of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Promote best practices for design, testing, code reviews, CI/CD, release management, and documentation.
Ensure Reliable Applications
  • Own the health and reliability of business-critical applications.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Establish support processes including triage, escalation, change management, and on-call procedures.
  • Drive measurable improvements in application stability and service performance.
Build Modern Technology Solutions
  • Oversee development using the Microsoft technology stack, including .NET, C#, Azure, and Azure Service Bus.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.
  • Ensure engineering standards and architectural governance are consistently followed.
Enable Data-Driven Decisions
  • Oversee reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI and Databricks/Azure.
  • Ensure reporting platforms and data pipelines are accurate, reliable, and well governed.
Drive Innovation Responsibly
  • Evaluate emerging technologies including AI, automation, and new Azure capabilities.
  • Lead proof-of-concepts and pilot programs that solve real business challenges.
  • Introduce new technologies with appropriate security, compliance, and operational governance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience delivering and supporting enterprise business applications.
  • 4+ years leading software development and application support teams.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft technologies including:
    • .NET
    • C#
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Azure Service Bus
  • Experience leading applications through the complete Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Experience with Power BI and modern data platforms such as Databricks.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, testing, release management, and change management.
  • Experience improving production reliability through monitoring, observability, incident management, and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts including SLIs, SLOs, telemetry, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • Ability to collaborate with architects, technical teams, and business leaders to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting EHR, Practice Management, or healthcare technology platforms.
  • Experience implementing AI or machine learning solutions in production.
  • Azure or Microsoft technical certifications.
  • Experience managing both software development and long-term application support portfolios.

What Makes You Successful

You are a collaborative leader who enjoys developing people just as much as delivering technology. You know how to balance strategic planning with day-to-day execution and can navigate competing priorities without losing sight of reliability or customer experience.

You're comfortable:

  • Leading technical teams through change
  • Communicating with executives and business stakeholders
  • Managing vendors and technology budgets
  • Making thoughtful decisions under pressure
  • Building strong partnerships across IT and the business

Why Join Us?

You'll have the opportunity to lead a team that builds technology directly supporting patient care and business operations. This role offers the chance to influence enterprise technology strategy, modernize critical applications, mentor exceptional engineers, and drive meaningful innovation in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
