Engineer assistant in Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones)

Location: Odense M, Denmark

SDU Drone Center, part of Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for a 3-years full time position as engineer assistant to support our portfolio of ongoing and future research projects within Unmanned Aerial Systems. 

Employment can take place as soon as possible.

Research environment

SDU Drone Center conducts research in drone technologies and future drone applications within areas such as nature conservation and biodiversity, precision agriculture, infrastructure inspection, and security and defence technology. We are an interdisciplinary team of researchers with specializations within robotics, computer vision, software, embedded systems, and design and construction of drone systems. Together we create drone solutions to the benefit of society.

Profile and requirements

Qualified candidates should have relevant experience and an engineering degree in drone technology, robotics, electronics, software, or other related fields at MSc level or higher, and should have expertise in several of the following areas:

· Research and development within drone platforms, subsystems, and payloads (UAV, UGV, USV).

· Mechanical design and construction

· Composites

· Electronics design and development.

· Software design and development.

· Embedded systems software

· Sensors and signal processing.

· UAS operations (experiments, piloting).

The candidate will be part of the SDU Drone Center and is expected to participate in the center's project portfolio and outreach activities.

We are located in Odense at SDU Campus and at HCA Airport where we have state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities. The right candidate will work at both locations.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the Ministry of Finance and Dansk Metal.

Salary is determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including the content of the position, responsibilities, and qualification requirements.
