Operating at a senior leadership level, the role combines deep analytical expertise with executive advisory capability, translating complex data, market intelligence and performance trends into clear, actionable insights that inform strategy, planning and operational priorities.

Leading a small specialist team, you will champion best practice business intelligence, analytics and data governance. Working in close partnership with senior leaders, faculties and central units, you will operate with a high degree of independence and professional judgement, addressing complex, time critical and non routine analytical challenges with significant institutional impact.

  • Leading the development of high quality business intelligence, predictive models and performance reporting that informs strategic planning, load targets and operational decision‑making.

  • Support development of load plan targets and translate these into market based targets to inform recruitment planning and performance monitoring.

  • Setting and assuring strong data governance, stewardship and compliance, ensuring accuracy, consistency, ethical use and alignment with regulatory and sector requirements.

  • Driving continuous improvement and building organisational capability by leading a specialist analytics team and promoting a culture of data literacy and evidence informed decision making across the University.

About You

This role would suit a strategic, commercially minded analytics leader who thrives at the intersection of data, insight and executive decision making, and who is motivated by influencing outcomes at scale within a complex, purpose driven higher education environment.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Substantial experience providing senior level strategic and executive advice informed by complex data, analytics and market intelligence, with demonstrated impact on high‑stakes decision making.

  • Proven people leadership capability, including leading, coaching and developing specialist analytics or business intelligence teams within complex organisational environments.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, regulatory obligations and risk management, with the ability to ensure data quality, integrity and ethical use across enterprise reporting and analysis.

  • Advanced capability in business intelligence and analytics platforms (such as Power BI, SAP Business Objects, SQL or equivalent), including the application of predictive modelling and forecasting techniques.

  • Highly developed written, verbal and presentation skills, with demonstrated experience translating complex analysis into clear, compelling executive‑level briefings, reports and recommendations.

  • A collaborative and influential approach, with the ability to build trusted partnerships across faculties, central units and external stakeholders

  • Experience in the Australian higher education sector, particularly in student recruitment, admissions, market analysis or external reporting contexts, will be highly regarded.
