This hybrid position requires two days per week in the office at the nearest hub.

About this role 

As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Native Mobile team, you will drive the strategic evolution of mobile application development for iOS, supporting millions of users on our platform. You will leverage your deep expertise in iOS development and cross-platform technologies (such as React Native or Kotlin Multiplatform) to create scalable, high-quality, and efficient solutions across mobile platforms. This role is perfect for an engineer who is passionate about mobile technology, cross-platform development, and leading complex technical projects that deliver impactful results.

You will collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver innovative features, while also providing leadership and mentorship to engineers. As a technical leader, you will define the direction for mobile app architecture, guide engineering decisions, and ensure best practices are adhered to for creating seamless user experiences across iOS and potentially cross-platform solutions.

What you'll be doing

• Drive iOS Development: Take ownership of the technical roadmap for iOS applications, working closely with cross-functional teams and other Technical leads to ensure alignment with business goals.
• Cross-Platform Expertise: Leverage cross-platform technologies (such as React Native, Kotlin Multiplatform, or Flutter) to streamline development processes, improve app performance, and reduce maintenance overhead.
• Collaborate on Product Strategy: Partner with product management and design teams to define technical requirements, architect innovative solutions, and deliver on critical product milestones across iOS and Android platforms.
• Architect and Implement Solutions: Drive the development and implementation of robust, scalable, and high-performance iOS applications, ensuring seamless integration of features and third-party libraries.
• Code Reviews & Mentorship: Dedicate a portion of your time to reviewing code, setting technical standards, and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers. Ensure the team adheres to best practices, testing standards, and code quality.
• Foster Innovation: Encourage experimentation and the adoption of cutting-edge mobile technologies. Promote a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and bold innovation across the engineering team.
• Performance Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize the performance and efficiency of iOS apps, ensuring a smooth and responsive experience for users globally.
• Scalability & Reliability: Architect mobile solutions that can scale effectively to handle millions of users and maintain system reliability, security, and responsiveness.

What you’ll have

• 8+ years of experience in iOS development, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality mobile applications at scale using Swift, SwiftUI, and Objective-C.
• Cross-platform development expertise with technologies like React Native, Kotlin Multiplatform, or Flutter is highly valued. Hands-on experience implementing cross-platform solutions across iOS and Android.
• 3+ years of technical leadership experience, guiding engineering teams through complex, multi-platform projects and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Mobile Architecture Expertise: Deep knowledge of mobile architectures, design patterns (MVVM, VIPER, etc.), and a strong understanding of iOS performance optimization techniques.
• Proven ability to innovate: Strong ability to drive technological improvements and experiment with new frameworks and tools to enhance development efficiency and product quality.
• Mentorship and Leadership: Strong mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and develop engineers at all levels. You are passionate about fostering the next generation of engineering talent.
• Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing key stakeholders.
• Experience with mobile CI/CD tools, automated testing frameworks, and release management.
