You want to lead the way in innovation, exploring the latest technologies and finding new solutions. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to work with and learn alongside the best in Product, Design, and Engineering.

About this role

In a way, the team is designing user experiences that unlock the breadth and depth of the diverse set of learning content available to learners in Udemy. Search experience team works with a data driven culture, formed of Data Scientists building machine learning algorithms, microservice based architectures to implement Machine Learning and Large Language Model (LLM) solutions to provide the best value to our learners. • As part of this dynamic team, you will be responsible for working with Product managers, user experience designers and data scientists to implement the best user experience that connects with ML and LLM reinforced search systems. Although the main responsibility of the role is focused on implementation of the front-end, we expect you to be able to support backend solutions, monitoring and observability of the user experience end-to-end.

What you'll be doing

  • Contribute to the end-to-end implementation of Udemy’s in-site search experience across multiple product lines, improving and/or introducing different learning content discovery methodologies.
  • Implement new front-end experiences with back-end services served over GraphQL.
  • Implement monitoring, metrics and observability of the end-to-end user experience and optimize.
  • Setting up best practices and aligning with company practices for the team.
  • Work closely with Product, Design and Data Science/Analytics partners to ensure our products effectively solve customer problems and meet business objectives.
  • Incorporate Experiment-Driven development in your daily work in order to improve overall customer journey.
  • Participate in daily standup team meetings/bi-weekly sprint planning & sprint-end demo/retrospective and work cross-functionally with other teams to drive product innovation.

What you’ll have

  • 4+ years of front-end engineering experience (full-stack engineering preferred).
  • Expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Advanced understanding of React, including React Hooks & Functional Components (or equivalent front-end frameworks)
  • Experience designing scalable, secure and performant APIs (REST/GraphQL/gRPC)
  • Willingness to learn and operate across the stack with Front End and Web Performance focuses
  • Experience working with medium-sized agile development teams
  • Lead large efforts involving multiple stakeholders
  • Well organized, disciplined, and able to manage time and priorities effectively

We understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications. However, we also realize that everyone has unique experiences that can add value to our company. Even if you think your background might not perfectly align, we'd love to hear from you!
