AI Engineer

Location: Bucharest, Bucharest, ro

Company Description

As Ubisoft’s online platform developer, Online Services helps bring high-quality connected experiences to millions of players worldwide. Working alongside production teams, we leverage state-of-the-art solutions to enable value-filled features in all our online games – throughout their development and while they’re live. With a view of Ubisoft’s entire digital ecosystem and a long-term approach to online gaming, we focus on finding the right solution for the right purpose. And if the solution we need doesn’t exist yet? That’s just an opportunity for us to create it.

As an AI engineer within our R&D team, you’ll design, develop, and implement applications and tools that leverage the latest AI technologies to support our partners’ objectives.

Your role combines hands-on engineering with curiosity and exploration: you’ll test and maintain applications, contribute to requirements, architecture and design discussions, and evaluate the value of new technologies to strengthen Ubisoft’s strategy and best practices.

Job Description

What you'll do:

  • Design, build & deploy end-to-end-prototypes, MVPs, and scalable components for Online Services & partners using Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies (prompting, guardrails, agents, chunking etc.).
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including domain experts, data scientists, software developers, and cloud experts to ensure seamless integration and successful project outcomes.
  • Collect, preprocess, clean and analyze large datasets for training, finetuning and evaluation purposes.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of LLM driven applications to measure their performance and user satisfaction, making data-driven improvements (LLM as a judge, LLM metrics, traces, etc.).
  • Analyze data & give insights to inform stakeholders regarding solution performance and propose improvement actions and finetuning.
  • Build & support automations via CI/CD (GitLab) for typical LLM processes (RAG, automatic evaluations, deployment of resources, etc.).
  • Document & share knowledge through technical content and guidelines to enhance internal collective intelligence.
  • Anticipate and manage risks of emerging AI technologies, ensuring responsible and ethical use.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements in AI and data science and act as an ambassador of the team by participating in diverse workshops, presentations, internal or external events.

Qualifications

What you'll bring as technical knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles, as applied to Python & JavaScript
  • Deep understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including deep learning concepts and popular ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Familiarity with Gen AI & Agentic AI techniques such as RAG, function calling, and agentic workflows
  • Knowledge of DevOps /LLMOps tools and practices (model serving, versioning, CI/CD)
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, backend technologies and database (FastAPI, Postgres, MongoDB)
  • Experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure or similar)

What you'll bring as soft skills:

  • Motivated, curious, and eager to explore new technologies
  • Strong communication skills, able to translate complex concepts for diverse audiences
  • Collaborative and open to feedback, contributing to a supportive team culture
  • Organized and proactive, balancing innovation with delivery
