Job Description

You’ll be working at the cutting-edge of innovation designing electrical systems for a highly-modular factory concept, developing layouts and architecture for LV power-distribution, IO systems, safety systems and industrial communication. Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers you will have the scope to drive direction and approach of how complex engineering concepts are taken from the conceptual phase, right through to production and deployment.

You will generate and maintain detailed design documentation including specifications, schematics, 2D layouts, cable and wiring schedules, IO lists and BOMs. Your daily responsibilities will include an exciting mix of both design activities and hands-on commissioning work – working with a highly skilled team to realise Cellular Origins’ pioneering approach to automation.

Qualifications

  • In depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols and fieldbus networks such as EtherCat, Profinet, I/O-Link etc.
  • Knowledge of serial communication protocols including RS-232 and RS-485
  • Experience in specifying requirements for and designing safety systems for automated machinery in accordance with ISO 13849
  • Experience designing industrial control systems around hardware such as PLC’s (Beckhoff HW experience advantageous), motor controllers, process sensors and actuators.
  • Experience designing electrical LV power distribution panels for both single-phase and three-phase applications using components such as MCB’s, RCD’s and RFI filters
  • Hands-on capability to assist with assembly of control panels, cabling, wiring and commissioning
  • Experience developing test schedules for LV distribution, safety systems, IO systems
  • Experience generating detailed electrical document packs for manufacturing including schematics, line diagrams, wiring and cabling schedules, IO Lists, BOMs and 2D panel layouts
  • Knowledge of and experience working in compliance with CE legislation, applicable industry standards and directives such as IEC 60204 and 61010
  • This role will be a full time on-site position at our campus in Melbourn

Non-essential

  • Experience with mechanical designs using 3D CAD packages i.e Solidworks
  • Practical experience with SISTEMA would be considered a strong advantage
  • Experience designing automation and electrical equipment for applications in a highly regulated environment (GMP, ATEX etc.)
  • PCB design capabilities desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and network architecture
