Department: Trimble Civil Construction Field Systems

Position Overview:

Trimble has an opening for a Software Engineer. This is an exciting time to join as we grow and bring new features and technologies to our award winning construction collaboration products.

As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining our backend Cloud platforms.  Most importantly, this position requires a fundamentally strong software development skills and a persistent problem solver who: 1) has a bias for experimenting, iterating quickly, and offering ideas, 2) has the ability and the desire to work within a large existing code base which is relied upon by many important customers, and 3) who is curious to build and share knowledge.

You will work directly with mid to senior engineers to develop new features and troubleshoot issues in different parts of the stack.  You will be a member of a SCRUM team developing solutions for Construction Field Systems.

Our philosophy is to design for simplicity and deliver continuously.

What You Will Do: 

  • Document and develop new APIs using a microservice architecture to communicate with IoT devices and end user applications

  • Develop and troubleshoot cloud services used to ingest, transform, and store data

  • Consume cloud APIs endpoint to develop web based user interfaces

  • Consume cloud APIs to implement cloud-to-cloud logic

  • Perform code reviews

  • Participate in collaborative design review sessions

  • Run unit and system level testing to verify code changes

  • Interact with other engineering teams and stakeholder to test solutions in live construction sites

What Skills and Experiences You Should Bring: 

  • Bachelors of sciences in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer engineering or related field

  • Mastery of Maven, Java, Spring Framework, and other common Java Open Source libraries.

  • Proficient in Git

  • Experience developing in a microservice, streaming, or event based architecture

  • Understanding of Data Structures, Design Patterns, Relational and NoSQL Databases.

  • Basic understanding of AWS cloud concepts such as S3, EC2, Lambda, IAM, and EKS. 

  • Basic understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.

What Skills and Experiences You Could Bring:

  • Experience using OpenAPI or AsyncAPI

  • Linux command line and associated utilities

  • SQL

  • Python

  • Relational and time series databases

  • Atlassian tool chain

  • IoT protocols such as MQTT or DDS

  • Experience with Azure
