We are seeking a skilled and experienced Azure AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) Engineer with a DevOps background. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop environments for Trimble’s customers across the globe. The role requires an in-depth Azure AVD skill set coupled with a strong understanding of DevOps Infrastructure (IaC) practices. Success in this position involves working effectively with global product delivery teams and the rest of the DevOps team to ensure seamless deployment, scaling, and management of AVD solutions.

This successful candidate will join an international DevOps team, including members in Europe, India and North America. The team are responsible for working with multiple delivery teams within the organisation and assisting them in implementing DevOps best-practices which include designing and deploying quality Cloud infrastructures and an effective CI/CD pipelines for Trimble’s customer facing services.  

What You Will Do:

• Design and implement AVD environments using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure consistency and scalability
• Automate deployment, scaling, and management of AVD resources using Terraform
• Provide support for Azure Virtual Desktop environments, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues
• Monitor and maintain AVD performance, availability, and security
• Optimize AVD environments for cost-effectiveness and performance
• Manage and maintain Azure cloud infrastructue, including virtual networks, storage, and identity services
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate AVD solutions into CI/CD pipelines using Terraform
• Ensure compliance with security and governance policies for Azure environments
• Stay updated with the latest Azure and Terraform features, best practices, and industry trends
• Propose and implement enhancements to AVD and DevOps processes to improve efficiency and reliability
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for AVD deployments, configurations, and support procedures
• Maintain up-to-date documentation on DevOps processes, tools and practices

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing Azure Virtual Desktop environments
• Experience in cloud infrastructure management, particularly with Microsoft Azure
• Proven experience managing Azure Virtual Desktop environments and terraform
• Proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, with experience in writing and maintaining Terraform scripts
• Strong knowledge of Azure services, including virtual networks, storage, compute, and identity management
• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI)
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and governance in Azure environments
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating Terraform into DevOps workflows
• Ability to work across multiple geographies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skill, with the ability to convey technical principles effectively

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Databases (SQL and NoSQL)
• Atlassian portfolio of tools
• Confluence
• SRE Practices & Tools such as New Relic
• Agile, specifically Scrum
• Practical knowledge of using Git/Bitbucket for source control
• Experience working with Cloud providers (experience with Azure is essential, experience with AWS is beneficial)
• “AZ-140: Configuring and Operating Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop” would be a desirable certification for this position
