Advanced Technologies Group LLC (ATG), established in 1991 and located in West Des Moines (IA), is the country’s premier provider of software solutions to the USA’s largest judicial and correctional agencies. All software design, development, maintenance and support is done by full-time employees; we do not sub-contract. ATG is Microsoft Gold Partner.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Full Stack Java software development to enhance and maintain ATG’s suite of software products. To be successful, a Software Developer must understand the basic principles of the business functions supported by software managed by the team. Develop and self-test code per design provide by project lead.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop software following corporate standards under the guidance of senior team members.
Web services written in Java
Client side written using MVC (JavaScript, HTML, and CSS).
Test developed software prior to releasing to QA team.
Independently write complex transact SQL statements.
Complete projects within time estimates with minimal returned work.
Keep supervisor informed on progress of projects.
Seek information to update technical skills and business knowledge.
Other duties as assigned by company management.
DEVELOPMENT SKILLS:
Understand software development requirement documents.
Independently make changes to existing complex transaction screens to service new requirements documented while ensuring all previous business rules continue to be enforced.
Expertise in IntelliJ IDE, as well as GIT/SVN and Azure Dev Ops
Deep experience with relational database concepts and expertise in TSQL.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No supervisory responsibilities, does have responsibility to mentor junior developers.
What You'll Need:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college with a major in Computer Science, plus three years’ experience in software development post college graduation.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Able to follow instructions and assist with all department activities.
Able to learn and gain an understanding of company packaged software.
Ability to work independently or within a team.
Ability to travel on business as required.
