An "Effect" is an innovative camera feature that seamlessly integrates cutting-edge AR technology, enabling users to create captivating videos. Central to the TikTok user experience, effects ignite joy, foster creativity, and spur new trends among our billion+ global community.
The Effect Platform team, vital in fostering digital creativity, cultivates a thriving ecosystem for global effect designers. The team is based in the US, and our mission is to amplify the designer community's experience via:
- Enhancing new effect capabilities through the implementation of server-side functionalities.
- Strengthening the lifecycle management workflow for all effects.
- Building and integrating monetization features to enhance revenue streams.
- Crafting sophisticated data analytics dashboard features to provide key insights.
- Designing and implementing effective incentive schemes to motivate and reward the effect designer community.
As a Backend Engineer in our team, you'll play a key role in shaping this dynamic and ever-evolving platform, significantly contributing to TikTok's continued global impact.

Responsibilities
1. Investigate and build cutting edge AI features for TikTok's effect platform
2. Build SDK that houses AI technologies and high-performance graphics rendering engine
3. Design and implement software architecture and frameworks for camera and effect processing pipelines
4. Profile and optimize real-time systems to achieve the best performance possible1. B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related major
2. Proficient in C/C++
3. Experience in AI/CG/ML/AR domain knowledge and development experience
4. Familiar with graphics rendering APIs such as OpenGL ES/Metal/Vulkan; has experience in shader programming
5. Excellent spoken and written communication
6. Computer vision knowledge is a plus
7. Experience in performance optimization for mobile phones is a plus
