The Multimedia Data Scientist team is responsible for optimizing app experience related to performance for TikTok users. This team collaborates with teams across the content creation and consumption ecosystem to provide end-to-end, data driven optimization solutions. We are looking for data scientists interns who have data mining experience and strong analytical skills to identify high-impact opportunity areas and enable personalized experience. You will have the opportunity to partner closely with a globalized engineering and product teams in a high-impact and fast-paced environment. This Internship Program runs for 12 weeks beginning in May/June 2025. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following summer internship start dates below: Monday, May 12 Monday, May 19 Tuesday May 27 (Memorial Day May 26) Monday, June 9 Monday, June 23 We will prioritize candidates who are able to commit to these start dates. Please state your availability clearly in your resume (Start date, End date). Candidates can apply to a maximum of two positions and will be considered for jobs in the order you apply. Support the development of experience metrics and set up basic monitoring tools. 2. Assist with experimentation design and analysis. 3. Identify and quantify opportunities in playback, creation or general mobile app experience using basic statistical models and data visualization. 4. Mine data to explore user needs and contribute to models aimed at user experience personalization. 5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product solutions 6. Participate in systemic problem-solving projects and explore innovative methodologies.Minimum Qualifications 1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. 2. Proficiency in Python and SQL. 3. Academic or project experience in advanced analytics, data mining or machine learning. 4. Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during [Summer] 2025; 5. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment. Preferred Qualifications 1. Graduating December 2025 onwards with the intent to return to the degree program after the completion of the internship. 2. Experience working with large datasets; familiarity with Hive, Spark or similar is a plus. 3. Experience or coursework in user-focused solutions; Knowledge in the streaming industry or social media products is beneficial. 4. Hands-on experience in developing statistical models or implementing data science solutions.
